About the role
About the role:
As a Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting Sporty’s global B2B growth ambitions. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for owning and developing the finance function within your remit, ensuring strong financial processes and controls, and scaling financial operations in line with rapid business growth.
Working closely with operational leaders, country managers, business-unit stakeholders, and external partners, you will have a tangible impact on the business by providing clear financial insight, supporting commercial decision-making, and helping to shape Sporty’s future success.
As a results-driven finance professional with a passion for operational finance, you will bring a forward-thinking mindset, strong ownership, and a focus on continuous improvement. You will be expected to stay ahead of industry trends, challenge legacy ways of working, and help build competitive advantage through intelligent finance, automation, robust controls, and operational excellence.
Why this role matters:
This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to help build and scale a finance function, not simply maintain one. You will be close to the business, trusted to make decisions, and expected to improve how finance supports growth, control, and operational performance.
If you're interested, we encourage you to apply. Every application is reviewed by a member of our team, and we aim to respond as quickly as possible.
What you'll be doing:
- Own the end-to-end finance function for your business remit, ensuring finance operations are accurate, efficient, scalable, and aligned with the needs of a fast-growing business.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes, systems, and internal controls to support growth, strengthen governance, and improve ways of working.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to operational leaders and business stakeholders, embedding finance into day-to-day decision-making and longer-term planning.
- Create accurate, well-considered, and business-owned budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, including P&L, cash flow, and working capital projections.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide clear insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support expansion into new markets and commercial initiatives by providing financial analysis, planning, controls, and operational finance support.
- Manage relationships with banks, payment providers, auditors, tax advisors, legal advisors, payroll providers, and other external service partners as required.
- Ensure full compliance with local audit, legal, tax, regulatory, statutory, payroll, and company secretarial requirements across your remit.
- Deliver timely, relevant, and decision-focused financial reporting on both a periodic and ad-hoc basis.
- Review operating costs, supplier spend, and business structures to identify opportunities for efficiency, optimisation, and sustainable growth.
- Support the development of scalable finance infrastructure, including systems, automation, reporting tools, external providers, and finance technology.
- Identify future finance resource requirements as the business grows, helping to build, develop, and scale a high-performing finance team where required.
- Maintain a strong control environment while remaining hands-on and pragmatic in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial business.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree with professional accounting qualification, supported by strong post qualification experience.
- Strong operational finance experience, with the ability to build processes, improve controls, and manage finance activity across multiple stakeholders or jurisdictions.
- Experience managing audit, tax, statutory, legal, banking, payroll, or external advisor relationships.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, reporting, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into practical business recommendations.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to understand operational drivers and support decision-making beyond pure accounting.
- A self-starter who operates with urgency, makes sound decisions quickly, and takes ownership.
- Hands-on, “startup mindset” — comfortable building from scratch, improving imperfect processes, and getting into the details when required.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-performance environments with evolving priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, balanced with the ability to step back and see the bigger commercial and operational picture.
- Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, across functions, geographies, and cultures.
- Prefers a flat organisational structure and enjoys collaborating closely with finance, operations, product, commercial, legal, compliance, and senior leadership teams.
Nice to have:
- Experience in international, high-growth, highly regulated environments such as Gambling, Fintech, Payments, Technology, or similar sectors.
- Experience supporting new market entry, product launches, acquisitions, or international expansion.
- Experience implementing or improving finance systems, reporting tools, automation, or outsourced finance operating models.
