Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an RN Manager, Emergency Room for a top acute care hospital in Salem, VA.

This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced ER nurse leader who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. The RN Manager will oversee daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring clinical excellence, effective team management, and optimal patient outcomes in alignment with hospital goals and standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Emergency Department staff, operations, and workflow in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services.
  • Plan and allocate unit resources based on census, acuity, and workload demands.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff.
  • Ensure team compliance with all licensure, competency, and continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain department policies, protocols, and quality standards in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Facilitate effective communication between ED, inpatient units, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Director.

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • BSN preferred or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited institution.

Experience

  • ER management experience required.
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current RN license in Virginia or multi-state compact license.
  • AHA BLS required.
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • PALS within 1 year of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required.

  • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
  • Strong understanding of emergency nursing standards and clinical protocols.
  • Ability to balance patient care, staff management, and administrative responsibilities effectively.
