About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and reliable Head of Maintenance to oversee the full upkeep and technical management of a prestigious private ultra-luxury villa in Pedralbes, Barcelona. This is a hands-on role requiring broad technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to resolve issues swiftly and discreetly — before they ever impact the household's experience. The ideal candidate takes full ownership of the property's condition, manages external contractors with confidence, and ensures every system, space, and surface is always in perfect working order.
Responsabilities
- Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and improvements throughout the villa — plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasks to the highest standard.
- Develop and manage a preventive maintenance schedule for all systems — HVAC, pool, irrigation, electrical, security, and home automation — ensuring zero disruption to the household.
- Source, coordinate, and supervise external contractors and specialist service providers — ensuring quality control, punctuality, and discretion at all times.
- Oversee outdoor areas including gardens, terraces, pool, and exterior structures — coordinating landscaping and seasonal upkeep to maintain impeccable presentation year-round.
- Proactively identify and address potential issues before they escalate — a problem-solver who anticipates, acts, and reports without needing to be asked.
- Manage maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment inventory — controlling costs, tracking warranties, and maintaining detailed records of works carried out.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance or facilities management role, ideally within a luxury hotel, private estate, or high-end residential property.
- Intermediate English - at least B1.
- Broad technical skills across multiple disciplines — plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. Knowledge of home automation systems is a strong plus.
- English is a plus and will be valued for communication with the household team and principal.
- Absolute discretion and respect for the privacy of the household — the ability to work within a confidential private environment with professionalism and integrity.
- Highly proactive and solution-oriented — someone who takes full ownership, anticipates problems, and always follows through without needing to be chased.
Benefits
- Exclusive environment: work within one of Barcelona's most prestigious private residences
- High-profile exposure: serve an elite private household within the international luxury circuit
- Competitive package: remuneration aligned with the exceptional level of this role
