Role Overview

The primary role of the Commercial Manager is to work directly with our clients and prospects to design and deliver exacting survey solutions from our full range of services, ultimately providing our clients with the engineering certainty to design and build critical and complex projects. You will be expected to grow this profit centre and ultimately support the expansion of the service line across the rest of Survey Solutions regional offices. The role will involve working at grass roots initially to fully understand the services and how they are delivered, to build deep relationships with the clients and key stakeholders and build trust from the team as well as our clients from delivering an exceptional service.

With an annual revenue and profit responsibility. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals and your remit will include business development, project delivery oversight, financial performance, client relationship management, regional team leadership, service line development.

The manager must have professional and effective communication skills and will seek to develop their own personal profile within industry client bases. The manager will be presentable and represent the company in a professional manner, ensuring the implementation of Survey Solutions’ working practices and company values are promoted. The post holder will be predominantly office based, but may also be required to undertake operational projects, travel to client or other Survey Solutions office locations, and site and management meetings when required.

Requirements

Main Duties/Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations across all regional project teams to ensure technical excellence, timely delivery, and client satisfaction.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet changing priorities and project demands while ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Manage the regional P&L, ensuring revenue growth, cost control, and profitability targets are met or exceeded.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and provide financial forecasting, risk assessments, and operational insights to senior leadership.

Strategic Development

  • Develop and implement a regional growth strategy aligned with company goals, including identifying new market opportunities and expanding existing accounts.
  • Lead tendering and proposal development efforts in collaboration with the commercial and technical teams.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and professional forums within the industry sectors.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing regional team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and career development opportunities to ensure skill growth and team retention, providing regular feedback and performance appraisals.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure regional compliance with all relevant regulations, licensing requirements, and health & safety procedures.
  • Uphold the company’s commitment to data integrity, environmental responsibility, diversity, equality, bullying, staff welfare, brand awareness and ethical business practices.
