A DAY IN A LIFE
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:
1. Leadership & Process Governance
- People Management: Direct leadership of a team of Cost Verification Executives; responsible for upskilling the team from "checkers" to "analysts."
- System Design: Build and stabilize process flows ensuring local country nuances are captured within a global standard.
- Stakeholder Negotiation: Act as the bridge between Finance and Operations to resolve any discrepancies and hold vendors accountable to contractual terms.
2. Financial Analysis
- Cost Forensics: Apply an FP&A lens to cost control—not just recording what was spent, but analyzing in accordance with operational needs.
- Margin Protection: Identify recurring leakage and work cross-functionally to improve unit economics across different Teleport entities.
- Strategic Reporting: Transition from cost forensics to providing cost related dashboards and high-level analytical summaries.
3. Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Operations Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of annual operation budgets
- Budgetary Control: Assist with monitoring of actual spend against approved budgets of operation costs
- Planning Support: Provide data-driven insights to help the business forecast future logistics costs as we expand
4. Month-End & Financial Accuracy
- Monthly Accruals: Assist with month-end accrual process for operational costs
- AP Integrity: Manage the end-to-end verification logic within the Accounts Payable process, ensuring the team clears discrepancies before they impact the bottom line.
- Audit-Ready Reporting: Maintain high standards of documentation for all cost-control activities to ensure seamless internal and external audits.
Requirements
- Professional Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance. ACCA, CIMA, or CPA (partial or full) is highly preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in Finance or Accounting.
- Domain Expertise:
- Proven experience in FP&A or Cost Accounting, with the ability to interpret data beyond the ledger.
- Foundational knowledge of the Accounts Payable (AP) cycle.
- Logistics/Supply Chain experience is a significant advantage
- Technical Rigor: An analytical mind that thrives on forensic data investigation and process mapping.
- Communication: The ability to challenge and the diplomacy to manage diverse regional stakeholders.
