The Corrosion Technician/Senior/Lead responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Installs, operates, and maintains cathodic protection systems and other corrosion mitigation or monitoring systems
- Perform annual/bi-monthly CP surveys such as test points, rectifiers/bond reads, and interference tests and troubleshoots potential issues
- Ensures required pipeline and facility surveys and inspections are completed on time
- Conducts required periodic surveys and completes accurate records on regulated facilities including pipelines and compressor stations
- Tests and maintains AC mitigation systems; collects AC potentials and alerts supervisor of potential issues
- Install, configure and maintain Rectifier Remote Monitoring Units (RMUs)
- Conducts inspections and maintains recordkeeping for both external and internal corrosion pipe exposures
- Install and removes corrosion coupons, collects gas and liquid samples to monitor internal corrosion risk
- Conducts tests to identify potential electrical interference problems on company assets and develops plans for corrective actions
- Assists on compliance related projects as requested
- Advises Engineers on corrosion control design needs
- Interprets technical manuals, specifications, plans, wiring diagrams related to cathodic protection systems
- May perform other duties in another classification, as directed
Required Experience and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of related technical experience, such as natural gas, compression, instrumentation, controls, electrical or other technical fields
- Valid Driver's License and able to operate a company vehicle
- Successful completion of AMPP Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) within one year of hire
- Successful completion of applicable Operator Qualification training
- Basic knowledge of computer software packages and equipment
- Basic knowledge of mathematics and electricity
- Basic knowledge of CFR 49, Part 192 and/or Part 195
- Ability to pass a physical capabilities test (which includes but is not limited to lifting and carrying 70 lbs., walking 1/2 mile at various inclines, etc.) necessary to demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of this job
- At times, this role requires both planned and unplanned travel to field and other EQT locations. There may be instances when travel is necessary outside of the core working hours. As a result, the incumbent must be able to work flexible hours and travel to our various operating locations as necessary
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Associates degree in electronics, or vocational certification in Electrical/Electronics
- Experience in natural gas or hazardous liquids
- AMPP CP 1 or higher
This role is covered under PHMSA / FMCSA regulations.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
