Your Challenge

The Backend Engineer is responsible for the system to work behind the scenes. The role is to integrate the application with all required systems and services and provide clean and easy-to-use API for the frontend part of the system. Although the work is usually hidden from the user, the Backend Engineer bears the full responsibility for the application functionality, performance and scalability. The Backend Engineer knows how to write clean modern APIs, integrate with legacy systems and work with databases

• Build scalable retail and e-commerce APIs
• Design event-driven microservices
• Optimize system performance and resiliency
• Develop integrations with ERP/POS/payment/logistics systems
• Build AI-ready backend services
• Support omnichannel commerce workflows
• Ensure observability and monitoring

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Node.js, Java, or Go
• Microservices architecture
• REST and GraphQL APIs
• Event-driven architecture (Kafka/RabbitMQ)
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
• Distributed systems design
• Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD pipelines
• API Gateway and service orchestration
• System performance optimization
• Cloud-native architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Technical leadership and stakeholder communication

Preferred

• Retail/e-commerce platform experience
• Experience leading backend/platform engineering teams
• High-scale transactional system experience
• ERP/POS/payment/logistics integration experience
• AI-ready backend architecture and LLM integration exposure
• Event sourcing and CQRS experience
• Real-time inventory/order management systems
• Observability and monitoring platforms
• Security and compliance best practices
• Multi-region deployment architecture
• Experience working in enterprise agile environments
• Domain-driven design (DDD)
• Strong understanding of scalability and resiliency patterns
• Experience supporting AI agents and workflow orchestration systems
