About the role
Job Overview
As a Technical Game Designer, you'll help bridge design and technology. You'll work closely with game designers, engineers, QA and production to turn gameplay ideas into working features, improve development workflows, and enable the team to iterate faster without sacrificing quality.
You'll join a team where designers prototype new ideas, improve existing gameplay systems, and take features from early concepts to production. The role combines gameplay design, scripting, technical implementation, and workflow improvement, giving you the opportunity to shape both the player experience and how the team builds the game.
What will you do?
- Designs, implements and iterates the gameplay features, such as combat mission scenarios, artificial intelligence or other solutions that require gameplay scripting.
- Uses the visual scripts and other scripting tools and requests the tool updates to increase the scripting efficiency and automate the processes.
- Translate design goals into working gameplay implementations and iterate on them based on feedback, testing, and production needs.
- Creating and maintaining game design documentation, technical specifications, implementation notes, or workflow guidelines.
- Collaborates across all design disciplines and operational teams to support feature prototyping and production implementation.
- Possesses a strong understanding of development tools and acts as a center of technical expertise for non-technical stakeholders.
- Participates in developing tools and technology to improve the workflow.
What are we looking for?
- Experience implementing gameplay using scripting or node-based systems.
- Strong understanding of gameplay systems and feature implementation.
- Ability to debug gameplay logic independently.
- Comfortable working with designers, engineers and QA throughout production.
- Experience taking a gameplay feature from prototype to release.
What additional skills will help you stand out?
- Experience working on live-service games.
- Experience shipping console titles.
- Familiarity with proprietary game editors.
- Passion for competitive multiplayer games.
