Position Summary:
ProShares is looking for an experienced HR professional to lead the firm's HR operations and total rewards function. This is a player-coach role with broad ownership across compensation, benefits, payroll, 401(k), wellness, HRIS, and data analytics, along with direct management of a small support team.
The role sits at the center of the HR function and works closely with the CHRO and management team on compensation decisions, annual review cycles, and the ongoing administration of HR programs and processes. Strong financial acumen and comfort with data are important. The firm values compensation expertise grounded in financial services surveys and expects analytical rigor in how compensation decisions are made and documented.
What You’ll Be Responsible For[1]:
- Own compensation programs across the firm, including base salary, bonus, and incentive structures. Lead annual review cycles, offer decisions, and the rigor of how promotion recommendations are made and documented.
- Lead compensation benchmarking using financial services surveys, including McLagan. Partner with the CHRO on compensation philosophy, job architecture, and the ongoing work of building consistency into how roles are leveled and rewarded across the organization.
- Support the design and administration of competitive long-term incentive programs, drawing on experience with complex compensation structures, including deferred compensation arrangements.
- Oversee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, and supplemental coverage. Manage vendor relationships, renewals, and open enrollment.
- Own 401(k) plan administration, including compliance, audits, and regulatory filings.
- Manage payroll processes with accuracy, appropriate controls, and audit readiness.
- Ensure wellness programming is effective and appropriate for our population, including the fitness reimbursement program and Employee Assistance Program, with an eye toward meaningful participation and employee value.
- Lead day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, job changes, leaves, and terminations, with accuracy and a high-quality employee experience.
- Serve as a senior advisor on employee relations matters. Partner with the CHRO to resolve complex or sensitive situations.
- Own Paylocity and Greenhouse (ATS), maintaining data integrity, system configuration, and HR reporting. Identify opportunities to automate and improve how the team works.
- Manage and develop a small team of HR professionals.
What Sets This Role Apart:
- A hands-on senior role focused on the operational core of HR: compensation, systems, payroll, benefits, 401(k), employee data, compliance, and execution.
- A role for someone who wants to own the HR back office directly, not simply advise from a distance.
- Opportunity to strengthen infrastructure, improve processes and controls, close gaps, and build a more scalable HR operating model in a lean environment.
- Direct partnership with the CHRO and senior leaders, where accurate analysis, judgment, and execution are highly valued.
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience with genuine depth in compensation, total rewards, and benefits.
- Strong financial acumen and comfort with data. Experience building compensation models, working with external survey data, and supporting analytically rigorous decision-making.
- Experience with financial services compensation surveys and benchmarking, including McLagan or equivalent.
- Familiarity with long-term incentive plans, deferred compensation, or complex compensation structures.
- Experience building job architecture or leveling frameworks and creating consistency in how roles are evaluated and rewarded.
- Hands-on payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administration experience, including compliance and regulatory filings.
- Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity or equivalent) and the ability to manage data, reporting, and system configuration.
- Sound judgment on employee relations matters, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
- Experience managing staff in a lean, high-accountability environment.
- Background in asset management or financial services strongly preferred.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role looks like HR operations that run cleanly and reliably: payroll is accurate, employee data is dependable, open enrollment is smooth, 401(k) administration is compliant and audit-ready, compensation recommendations are well supported, and the team operates with clear ownership and follow-through.
Compensation & Benefits:
The compensation for this position includes salary and incentive pay. The annual base salary range for this role is $195,000–$250,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation. Total compensation may vary based on experience, role, location, department, and individual performance.
Benefits Include:
- Competitive pay and discretionary bonus
- Paid time off
- Health care benefits (medical, dental & vision)
- Additional insurance includes basic life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental life, disability and legal benefit
- 401(k) retirement plan with matching contribution
- Spending Accounts (Health Care, Dependent Care, and Transportation)
- Wellness Programs (fitness reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program)
- Education assistance
- Hybrid work schedule
- Additional Programs include peer recognition, corporate matching gift
