ABOUT THE ROLE:
Rightway is seeking a Director of Business Intelligence to own business-facing analytics, reporting, and dashboard delivery across the company.
You will lead the embedded BI function across PBM, Navigation, Clinical, Operations, Client Success, and executive reporting. You will turn business demand into a managed roadmap, set delivery and quality standards, and manage analyst capacity so the team delivers measurable impact instead of chasing one-off requests. You will partner closely with the Data & Insights team and the Director of Analytic Platform to convert recurring BI needs into reusable, governed data products built on Rightway's centralized data platform.
You will report to the VP, Data & Insights and play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy, quality, and consistency of analytics across the company. This role turns BI from reactive reporting into a managed function with clear ownership, standards, and accountability.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- You will establish and maintain high delivery and quality standards across all BI initiatives to ensure consistency and impact.
- Own BI intake and prioritization. Capture business demand, score it, and turn it into a clear roadmap. Assure requests always come through your workflows to your team.
- Lead the embedded BI team across PBM, Clinical, Operations, Customer Success, Delivery, and Navigation, managing managers, leads, and analysts who act as strategic thought partners within their domains.
- Own analyst capacity planning, balancing demand against available capacity and aligning the team to the highest value workstreams.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to ensure excellence and retention across the BI team.
- Partner with the Director of Analytic Platform to convert recurring reporting needs into reusable data products
- Partner with leadership across PBM and Navigation functions to support quarterly business reviews, client deliverables, and clinical program effectiveness.
- Drive metric standardization, analytics governance, and version control across business units.
- Work with Engineering, Product, and the Analytic Platform team to enable secure, performant, and scalable analytics infrastructure.
WHO YOU ARE:
- 6+ years minimum experience managing analytics or BI teams, including managing managers or leads, with a strong record of people management and the ability to:
- Proven BI delivery experience, including dashboards and self-service reporting at scale across multiple business functions.
- Strong stakeholder management. You can sequence work and discuss tradeoffs. You build a managed roadmap and delivery pipeline to run the team.
- Direct experience and working knowledge of healthcare data, with 6+ years of experience in quantitative analytics and data story-telling for small and large datasets.
- Proficient in SQL, data modeling, and database technologies. You can read the work, not just manage it.
- Experience working in modern data stacks like dbt, Redshift, Snowflake.
- Proficient in advanced visualizations using BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Metabase).
- Demonstrated experience in metric standardization, analytics governance, and democratization of data and insights across business units.
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution, ensuring timely delivery of high-impact analytics.
- Comfort partnering with a platform engineering function on shared data products, semantic layers, and governance.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to translate complex findings into actionable business recommendations for technical, non-technical, and executive stakeholders alike.
- Passion for empowering others through data, building sustainable analytics infrastructure, and driving measurable outcomes across clinical and operational domains.
EXTRA CREDIT:
- Familiarity with Python and dbt, for exploratory analytics
- Hands-on AWS experience is a plus
- Familiarity with data orchestration platforms like Airflow/dbt Cloud
SALARY: $190,000 - $220,000 + bonus + equity
