Position Purpose
The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, profitability, and market share across assigned key retail accounts and channels. Acting as the primary commercial contact for strategic retail partners, the role focuses on developing strong customer relationships, managing account performance, executing commercial initiatives, and ensuring alignment between internal teams and external stakeholders. The Key Account Manager plays a critical role in achieving sales targets, optimizing inventory levels, maximizing retail visibility, and delivering sustainable business growth for MY Premium Lifestyle Brand.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Performance Management
- Own and drive sales performance for assigned key accounts and retail channels.
- Develop and execute annual Joint Business Plans (JBP) with key retail partners, aligning business objectives, growth initiatives, and commercial investments.
- Monitor sales performance against targets, forecasts, and previous year performance, identifying opportunities and risks.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key retail partners to evaluate performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Prepare monthly sales forecasts, business reports, and performance analyses for management review.
- Proactively identify business risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential impact on sales performance.
- Own and manage account profitability, gross margin performance, and trade investment effectiveness across assigned accounts.
- Analyze account P&L performance and recommend actions to optimize revenue growth and profitability.
Trade Terms & Commercial Investment Management
- Lead annual commercial negotiations including trade terms, rebates, promotional investments, listing fees, visibility agreements, and Joint Business Plans (JBP) with retail partners.
- Manage trade investment budgets and ensure optimal return on investment while achieving sales and profitability targets.
Key Account & Customer Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, buyers, category managers, and decision-makers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring excellent account management and customer service.
- Lead commercial negotiations relating to trade terms, annual agreements, promotional funding, rebates, visibility investments, product listings, and business development opportunities.
- Manage and optimize retailer trade spend to ensure maximum return on investment and achievement of profitability objectives.
- Ensure alignment between retailer objectives and brand commercial strategies.
- Collaborate closely with customers to improve sales productivity and overall business performance.
Commercial Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute annual account plans, promotional calendars, and growth initiatives.
- Work closely with Marketing and Retail Operations teams to plan and implement product launches, promotions, roadshows, and retail activations.
- Ensure timely execution of commercial campaigns and promotional activities across all assigned accounts.
- Monitor promotional effectiveness and provide recommendations for future improvements.
- Identify whitespace opportunities, new channels, and business development initiatives to expand market presence.
Inventory & Demand Management
- Monitor inventory levels, stock holding, and sell-through performance across assigned accounts.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Demand Planning teams to ensure optimal stock availability and inventory health.
- Analyze sales trends and forecast demand to support replenishment planning and inventory optimization.
- Identify slow-moving inventory risks and develop action plans to improve stock turnover.
- Ensure appropriate product assortment and allocation based on account performance and consumer demand.
Retail Execution & Visibility
- Partner with Retail Operations and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure strong in-store execution and brand visibility.
- Monitor product availability, merchandising standards, display quality, and promotional execution.
- Ensure new product launches are executed successfully with appropriate marketing support and retail readiness.
- Conduct regular store visits to gather market intelligence and evaluate retail execution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service, and Training teams to deliver business objectives.
- Provide commercial insights and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
- Share market feedback, competitor activities, pricing intelligence, and customer insights with internal stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of commercial best practices across the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Key Account Management, Sales, Commercial, or Trade Marketing roles.
- Experience managing major retail accounts within the luxury, lifestyle brands, electronics, premium consumer brand, and retail industry is preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving account growth.
