About the role
About Equi and Vectis
Equi designs and manages institutional-quality alternative investment solutions, including Equi-branded funds and white-label fund of funds products for independent multi-family offices and advisory firms. Vectis Capital, Equi's sister company, is a multi-family office and RIA delivering full family-office services and institutional-grade investment management to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, with alternatives central to its approach. Together, the two firms offer an unusually broad mandate—full ownership of UHNW client portfolios at Vectis alongside manager research that informs investment decisions across both firms.
About the Role
We are seeking an Investment Strategist / Investment Director with roughly 8-12 years of relevant experience to own a hybrid mandate spanning both firms, weighted approximately 60% Vectis and 40% Equi. On the Vectis side, you'll be the primary investment professional on the RIA platform, owning the full client investment lifecycle for UHNW individuals and families—from proposals and portfolio construction through trading, reviews, and long-term strategy. Across both firms, you'll source managers and lead due diligence, prepare investment committee materials, monitor portfolios, and partner with the investment team on Equi's funds and white-label products.
This is a senior, hands-on role. You bring enough experience to sit with advisors and clients, enough judgment to build and implement portfolios, and enough humility to do the detailed work required to execute correctly. You can move from a strategic conversation about a family's long-term allocation to a specific trade list, from a prospect proposal to a manager diligence memo, and from an IC recommendation to an operational follow-through plan.
What is this role accountable for?
Own at Vectis
Investment Operations
Serve as the primary investment professional for Vectis RIA clients, delivering institutional-grade portfolio management to UHNW individuals and families.
Own the day-to-day investment operating rhythm for client portfolios, including proposal workflow, portfolio reviews, trade and rebalance coordination, manager implementation, liquidity windows, and follow-through with advisors, operations, and compliance.
Build repeatable controls that make client investment recommendations, trading instructions, subscriptions/redemptions, and monitoring updates accurate, timely, and auditable.
Investment Proposals & Client Recommendations
Own the investment proposal process for prospects and existing clients, translating account statements, goals, constraints, risk tolerance, and advisor notes into clear recommendations.
Build client-ready investment materials that explain the recommended portfolio, role of each allocation, key risks, implementation steps, and expected monitoring cadence.
Partner with advisors before and after meetings so proposals are responsive to real client needs rather than generic model output.
Portfolio Construction & MFO Strategy
Develop and maintain Vectis portfolio construction frameworks, model allocations, manager rosters, rebalancing guidelines, and house-view strategy work for the RIA/MFO client base.
Collaborate with the lead advisor on quarterly and ad-hoc client portfolio reviews, including current positioning, performance drivers, risk exposures, liquidity, tax/implementation constraints, and recommended changes.
Help shape the investment strategy agenda for the MFO side: approved managers, research priorities, asset allocation views, client implementation playbooks, and advisor education.
Trading & Client Portfolio Implementation
Prepare and oversee client portfolio trade lists, rebalances, subscriptions, redemptions, and implementation instructions in coordination with advisors, operations, and compliance.
Ensure trades and portfolio changes reflect approved recommendations, client constraints, liquidity windows, cash needs, and operational deadlines.
Both Equi and Vectis
Manager Sourcing & Manager Diligence
Source prospective investment managers across marketable and private fund strategies for both Vectis client portfolios and Equi funds/white-label products.
Lead strategy due diligence, operational diligence, background-check coordination, legal/offering document term review, portfolio-fit assessment, and investment committee memo preparation.
Maintain strong manager relationships while preserving fiduciary skepticism and negotiating for transparency, capacity, liquidity, and structuring flexibility where relevant.
Investment Committee & Manager Monitoring
Present manager recommendations, portfolio construction views, and monitoring updates to the investment committee with clear recommendation logic and risk framing.
Run ongoing monitoring for approved managers, including performance, exposures, attribution, strategy drift, personnel changes, liquidity, operations, and fit within Vectis client portfolios, Equi funds, or white-label products.
Assist
Partner with the investment team on Equi's funds and white-label products, contributing portfolio construction and product development input.
Coordinate with quantitative, operations, legal/compliance, and product/engineering teams where analysis, implementation, or tooling support is required.
Qualifications
8-12 years of experience in investment strategy, portfolio construction, manager research, private wealth, family office, MFO, RIA, OCIO, fund of funds, investment consulting, or alternatives.
Demonstrated experience as a primary or senior investment professional for UHNW, family office, or institutional clients, including building proposals and portfolio recommendations—preferably in an MFO/RIA or family-office setting.
Hands-on portfolio construction and client portfolio implementation experience, including rebalancing, trade-list preparation, subscriptions/redemptions, liquidity windows, and operational coordination.
Strong manager sourcing and due diligence experience across marketable and/or private fund strategies, including investment diligence and operational diligence.
Ability to write concise investment memos, IC materials, client proposals, advisor notes, and manager monitoring updates.
Senior communication presence with advisors, clients, managers, investment committee members, operations, legal/compliance, and internal investment colleagues.
High fiduciary judgment, strong attention to detail, and comfort being accountable for portfolio recommendations and implementation follow-through.
Strong Excel and analytical skills; experience with portfolio analytics, CRM/reporting tools, Python/SQL, or AI-enabled workflow automation is a plus.
CFA, CAIA, MBA, or relevant graduate training is a plus but not a substitute for proven judgment and execution.
