About the role
Minerva Marine Inc. is looking for a motivated Technical Assistant (Newbuildings & Projects) to join our New Buildings, Projects & New Technology team. In this role, you will support the execution of newbuilding projects across tanker, bulk carrier, and container vessel types — from plan approval through to vessel delivery — working closely with Classification Societies, shipyards, and equipment makers to ensure every vessel meets the highest technical and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and coordinate plan approval documentation for newbuilding projects, liaising with Classification Societies and shipyards to secure timely approvals.
- Manage structured correspondence with shipyards and Classification Societies, maintaining clear communication records and ensuring prompt follow-up on open items.
- Analyse and compare equipment makers, producing structured assessments that support sound selection decisions.
- Contribute to pre-planning, design coordination, and scheduling activities across assigned newbuilding projects.
- Support the Head of New Buildings Projects & New Technology in tracking project progress, outstanding approvals, and key deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders — including makers, class surveyors, and consultants — under senior supervision.
- Travel to site offices as required to provide on-the-ground technical support.
Requirements
- University degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience in maritime technical or project-related work
- Experience as a site engineer and/or in vessel operation and maintenance is a strong asset
- Experience with newbuilding project support or plan approval and technical coordination work is considered an asset
- Solid familiarity with marine technical terminology is a plus.
- Experience with vessel types such as tankers, bulk carriers, or container vessels is a plus.
- Prior experience working with external maritime stakeholders such as Classification Societies, shipyards, equipment makers, or class surveyors is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Greek and English.
- Proficient in MS Office and standard computer applications.
