The Volunteer’s Role

Are you ready to use your expertise in education, HR, or organizational development to transform bright futures in Peru?

Volunteer with our partner, the “Carlos Cueto Fernandini” Public Technological Institute of Higher Education in Lima. In this high-impact volunteer role, you’ll help bridge the gap between education and meaningful employment for ambitious young adults, especially young women, LGBTQI+ youth, migrants, and historically marginalized groups.

By designing career-readiness strategies, training local faculty, and forging strong ties with the business sector, your mentorship will build lasting institutional capacity and unlock life-changing economic opportunities for generations to come.

As a volunteer, you will:

• Assess & Strategize: Conduct an in-depth institutional assessment of current employability services, providing a clear roadmap to boost career readiness.
• Elevate Career Services: Upgrade the institute's Job Placement Office, expand internship networks, and launch a reliable graduate-tracking system in partnership with national and international companies.
• Champion Inclusion: Integrate gender equality, diversity, and accessibility into institutional policies to support students with diverse background needs.
• Upskill Local Teams: Lead dynamic training for faculty and administrative staff in soft skills, career guidance, student support, and customer service.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Public Administration, International Development, or a related field.

Essential Background:

• Background in technical/vocational youth education or working with vulnerable populations.
• Expertise in soft skills development, mentoring, counseling, or workplace readiness.
• Experience in results-based management, business plan development, or labor market impact studies.
• Proven track record in managing corporate partnerships, institutional networking, and program design.
• Passion for multicultural environments, social inclusion, and sustainable development.

Volunteer Support and Requirements 

Support Package

Cuso International provides a comprehensive support package to ensure volunteers maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle aligned with local standards. This includes:

Selection and Screening

If you are shortlisted, you will need to: 

• Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel 
• Provide two professional references and one personal reference 
• Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview 
• Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure 
• Comply with anti-terrorism checks 
• Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct 

Residency and Citizenship: Candidates are responsible for confirming how volunteering internationally may affect their citizenship or residency status. Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
