Job Description Summary

The Repair Engineering Organization provides global technical support to the GE Aerospace MRO network and works on repair developments with direct impact on the Service Engine Manuals.
The Repair Engineer 2 executes and supports multiple repair development projects and performs identified duties related to assigned hardware components, assemblies, processes, or systems in a multi-functional team environment. This role provides customer support on questions and deviations related to Engine Manuals through the resolution of technical concerns while supporting repair shop production schedules. The position works closely with Shops and cross-functional organizations such as Design Engineering, Materials, Product Support, and Systems Engineering to develop robust repair solutions across the GE Aerospace business.
This position is ideal for candidates with prior experience in repair engineering, repair development, aviation component repair, or engine manual support, and who bring strong technical judgment, analytical skills, communication capability, and working knowledge of repair manufacturing processes. This position is primarily focused on engine externals/config hardware from Unison.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned repair development projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Perform analysis, design, test, and/or integration activities required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and process systems.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations for questions and deviations to engine manuals through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Document technical data generated to substantiate assigned hardware components, assemblies, systems, and repair processes in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews.
  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE policies and procedures, engineering standards, customer operating procedures, specifications, and government/commercial standards.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, significant developments, and obstacles identified during repair development and industrialization processes.
  • Support technical issue resolution requiring engineering knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Solve engineering problems related to repair components, repair processes, and product support activities.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve current business products and processes and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
  • Perform self-check of work to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
  • Previous experience in a similar engineering role or related technical position.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles relevant to repair, component support, and technical problem solving.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to document, plan, and execute technical programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and participate in technical reviews.
  • Demonstrated project coordination or project management capability across functions.
  • Effective problem identification, analytical, and organizational skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Repair manufacturing process knowledge applicable to the aviation engine industry.
  • Aviation engine design knowledge.
  • Experience in repair development projects and engine manual deviations.
  • Experience supporting technical issues in a repair shop, MRO, manufacturing, or product support environment.
  • Working knowledge of technical documentation to substantiate repairs and component dispositions.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Additional language capability is a plus, including Portuguese, French, Italian, or Japanese.
