Overview
TNS has an amazing opportunity in our Network Operations Center for a NOC Technician! In this role you will answer incoming phone calls from customers and document, isolate and resolve network and customer specific incidents.Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor network surveillance systems, respond to alarms and error conditions, as well as monitor email and manage a phone queue taking direct support calls from our customers and vendors.
Manage and resolve assigned incident tickets.
Provide direct support to internal and external customers to mitigate service impact resulting from network events.
Perform complex troubleshooting, fault isolation, root cause analysis, and incident management supporting SS7, SIP, and Diameter Signaling Platforms as well as IPX and IP networks.
Perform troubleshooting for BGP peering and IP connectivity alarms
Troubleshooting Ethernet, DS0, DS1, DS3, and optical circuits and connectivity utilizing -Switches, Routers, STPs, DACS, DNX, DSR's and other muxing equipment
Interface with TNS customers, telecommunications carriers, and equipment vendors. -Perform routine and corrective maintenance on network elements
Work a rotating shift as required to support 7x24x365 Operations
Must be able to perform shift work including nights, weekends and holidays as required
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Qualifications
Desired Competencies
Experience in a Network Operations Center or similar Operational Support environment in a technical support or engineering role
Working knowledge of LTE technologies including Diameter, S8, S6a
Working knowledge of SIP message calls flows and platform interworking.
Working knowledge of IP networking technologies and troubleshooting.
Cisco IOS and JunOS experience
Experience troubleshooting IPX networks
Experience troubleshooting BGP peering issues
Desired Skills/Experience:
Verbal and written English skills essential.
Experience / knowledge of IP networking and WAN network protocols.
Experience with telecommunications hardware, circuits, and digital cross connect systems including testing, turn-up, and troubleshooting
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
Ability to type 40+ words per minute
Basic proficiency working in a Unix/Linux environment
Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment
Direct Experience with MetaSwitch Perimeta SBC is highly beneficial
Working knowledge of ticketing systems such as Remedy and Salesforce, monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk and Netreo.
A working knowledge of the ITIL framework, or ITIL foundation certification.
Education: Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
For this role, we anticipate paying $28.50 - $31.50 per hour. Any compensation range provided for a role is an estimate determined by available market data. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
