FTE: 1.00 – Temporary

The expected start date is as early as August 26, 2026, and is anticipated to complete on June 29, 2027, or will be based upon the return of the incumbent.

The City of Lethbridge

Lethbridge is located just two hours south of Calgary, close to the Rocky Mountains and U.S. border. It is a family-oriented and culturally vibrant community with many amenities of a larger city. Subjects

Winston Churchill High School is seeking a Grade 9 -12 Math Teacher to join their team and support their diverse community with a student first approach. The successful candidate will be an eager and enthusiastic educator who strives to promote Churchills motto of Work Hard, Be Kind and will:

  • Have a background in Math (preferred)
  • Cultivate an inclusive classroom that respects diverse worldviews and is committed to creating an anti-racist and anti-oppressive learning community
  • Be a passionate and dedicated educator who inspires curiosity and a love of learning through engaging, student-centered instruction
  • Thrive in a collaborative teaching environment and values team approaches to creating learning opportunities for diverse learners in a variety of classroom environments
  • Possess a strong commitment and ability to build positive, authentic relationships with students, families, and colleagues

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.

Since 1886, Lethbridge School Division has offered high quality learning experiences over a broad range of programs to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners. The District educates over 11,000 students within the City of Lethbridge and employs nearly 1,200 staff members.


Lethbridge is a growing, vibrant city with over 100,000 residents. It is home to the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge College, and the Lethbridge Research Centre, one of the largest agricultural research facilities in Canada. The city also houses two large manufacturing plants involved in raw product development. Well situated in the south-western part of Alberta, Lethbridge residents enjoy access to state-of-the-art cultural and recreational facilities. Comprehensive retail services attract consumers from southern Alberta, south-eastern British Columbia and northern Montana.

Lethbridge School Division takes pride in the breadth of its programs, the expertise of its staff, and the quality of its facilities in 23 schools, and a number of outreach facilities throughout the city. Our schools have a grade structure comprised of Kindergarten to Grade 5 students in elementary schools, Grade 6 to Grade 8 students in middle schools and Grade 9 to Grade 12 students in high schools.

All schools provide instruction in the core subjects (language arts, mathematics, social studies and science), physical education, and the fine arts. Students at each school have access to libraries that provide a blend of print materials and access to modern computers for research purposes. French language instruction is provided in grades four through twelve and a French Immersion program is offered for students from kindergarten through Grade 12. Spanish, German and Japanese courses are also available. In addition, at the secondary level, students can experience a wide range of options or complementary courses designed to meet their unique needs and interests, including those related to career and technology studies. Information and communication technology instruction is integrated into all student programs. International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and Knowledge and Employability courses are also offered to high school students.

Other instructional programs include kindergarten offered in all elementary schools, special education for students with unique needs, First Nations, Métis and Inuit education, and early literacy. A Montessori program is established in grades 1 to 7. Lethbridge Christian School provides Christian education for students from kindergarten to grade 8.

The instructional program is enhanced by the provision of counselling services in all schools that include social/emotional, educational and career counselling. These services are enhanced by long-standing, community partnerships with the Lethbridge Police Service, Alberta Health Services, Southwest Alberta Child and Family Services, Alberta Human Services, and other agencies. A strong co-curricular program is also provided that includes a variety of athletic, fine arts and student leadership opportunities.
