Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced System Power, Performance & Memory Optimization Engineer with 8+ years of experience in Android smartphones/mobile systems. The candidate should have strong expertise in system-level optimization, Android and Linux Kernel internals, along with hands-on experience in Camera HAL, Camera Drivers, ISP, or related Camera subsystems. The role involves optimizing performance, power, memory, and latency across the Android software stack to deliver efficient and differentiated smartphone experiences.Role and Responsibilities
Skill Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in system-level power, performance, and memory optimization on Android smartphones or mobile/embedded platforms, including CPU, GPU, memory, I/O, latency, thermal, and power bottleneck analysis.
- Strong Android platform development experience with good understanding of Android Framework, Native Services, HAL, Binder IPC, Android Runtime, and Linux Kernel interactions.
- Hands-on development or debugging experience in Camera HAL, Camera Drivers, ISP, or Android Camera subsystems, including interactions among Camera Framework, HAL, drivers, ISP, sensors, and hardware.
- Experience leveraging ISP pipelines for real-time and offline processing while balancing performance, latency, memory bandwidth, and power constraints.
- Excellent C/C++ programming skills with strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, memory management, multithreading, concurrency, and performance-critical software development.
- Strong knowledge of Linux Kernel internals, including scheduling, memory management, device drivers, interrupts, synchronization, CPU frequency/idle management, and power-management frameworks; experience with tools such as Perfetto, atrace, simpleperf, ADB, dumpsys, and logcat.
- Ability to study state-of-the-art research papers, patents, algorithms, and emerging technologies; translate relevant concepts into practical solutions; and make algorithmic/design changes for efficient implementation on resource-constrained mobile devices.
- Excellent proficiency with Generative AI tools such as Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, or equivalent platforms for software development, debugging, code analysis, research, automation, and productivity improvement, with the ability to critically validate AI-generated outputs.

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be a strong advantage:
- Mobile/Smartphone Camera development, particularly low-light imaging and video recording, computational photography, or effective utilization of next-generation image sensors.
- Performance optimization of time-critical Camera tasks, including camera launch, preview, capture, video processing, frame processing, and end-to-end latency.
- Modification of algorithms, architectures, or processing pipelines for power optimization of highly compute-intensive workloads across CPU, GPU, DSP, NPU, and ISP.
- Computer Vision algorithms and their implementation and optimization for mobile platforms.
- Development of C/C++ reference models (C-models) for ISP pipelines, including modeling, validation, and optimization of ISP processing blocks.
- Knowledge of imaging algorithms such as demosaicing, denoising, HDR, color processing, tone mapping, and sharpening.
- AI/ML-based Camera, Computational Photography, or Computer Vision solutions on mobile devices.
- Collaboration with image sensor, chipset/SoC, ISP, Camera hardware, or algorithm teams/vendors.
- Demonstrated innovation through patents, publications, prototypes, novel algorithms, or differentiated Camera/Imaging features.
