North Point Technology is looking to hire a senior System Administrator to support a mission-critical RF and optical capabilities program. This role requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph. The position blends enterprise system administration across Linux and Windows environments with full-cycle network engineering, combining hands-on infrastructure work with automation and security compliance to deliver resilient, high-performance systems for demanding mission workloads.
Responsibilities:
The System Administrator will install, configure, and maintain RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian and Windows Server instances while managing users, groups, Active Directory, and local security principals. The incumbent will provision and manage storage solutions including LVM, RAID, SMB, and NFS, and will perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation against DoD STIG and CIS baselines. Automation responsibilities include developing Ansible playbooks and roles for Linux and Windows workloads, writing Bash, PowerShell, and Python scripts, and operating Ansible Tower/AWX for job scheduling and audit trails. Network engineering duties span the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of enterprise L2/L3 networks including VLANs, routing protocols, QoS, DHCP, and DNS, with specific focus on Arista EOS configuration, CloudVision provisioning, and eAPI/Ansible automation. The role enforces DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 standards, manages secrets and certificates, conducts vulnerability scans, and maintains RBAC across servers and network devices. The administrator will provide Tier 3 support and maintain documentation including designs, runbooks, and SOPs in Confluence or SharePoint with configuration libraries maintained in Git.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Installation, configuration, and administration of RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and/or Debian Linux servers
- Administration of Windows Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022, including Active Directory, user and group management
- Storage provisioning and management: LVM, RAID, SMB/NFS shares
- System hardening and vulnerability remediation using DoD STIG and CIS Benchmarks
- Development of Ansible playbooks and roles for Linux and Windows automation, including use of WinRM modules
- Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, and Python for task automation and incident response
- Operation of Ansible Tower or AWX for job scheduling, credential management, and audit trails
- Git-based version control workflows for infrastructure as code (IaC)
- Design, implementation, and troubleshooting of enterprise L2/L3 networks: VLANs, BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, QoS
- Configuration of Arista EOS switches and automation via eAPI and Ansible modules
- Arista CloudVision for centralized network provisioning
- High availability network design and capacity planning including EVPN and VXLAN
- Implementation of network security controls: ACLs, RADIUS/TACACS+, 802.1X, MACsec
- Role-based access control (RBAC) and secrets/certificate management across servers and network devices
- Vulnerability scanning and remediation tracking in compliance with DoD requirements
- Documentation of designs, runbooks, and SOPs in Confluence or SharePoint
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Container orchestration using Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, or Apache Mesos
- Container networking, service discovery, and load balancing
- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Use of container registries such as Docker Hub or Google Container Registry
- Monitoring tools: Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Logging tools: ELK Stack, Splunk, or Logstash
- CI/CD pipeline tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI
- Pipeline automation, testing, and deployment workflows
- Networking protocols including TCP/IP and HTTP
- Storage solutions including SAN, NAS, or Ceph
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, or equivalent)
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph required to start
- Preferred certifications: RHCE, RHCSA, LFCS, CKAD, or CKA
