In this role, you will inspire and support our educators, ensuring they have the happiest and most rewarding experience at camp. You will show love and care to our campers, deliver the highest level of customer support to parents, and guide our staff to reach their full potential.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced educational leader looking to step into a short-term, part-time leadership position while becoming part of the NORY community. Beyond summer, strong team members may also have opportunities to continue working with NORY through our School Break Day Camps, afterschool programs, birthday parties, and special events.

  • Training in Diverse STEM Topics: Develop your skills in a variety of STEM areas, including robotics, coding, and woodworking. No prior STEM experience? No worries. We offer comprehensive training that transfers seamlessly to your future educational career.

  • Lasting Professional Relationships: Join a supportive, excellence-driven community of over 400 dedicated NORY educators.

  • Pathway to Continued Opportunities: Access a development pipeline that supports sustainable professional growth and provides opportunities to stay involved with NORY beyond the summer season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach and Train Counselors: Mentor and develop our teaching staff, ensuring they grasp the purpose behind each activity and properly implement protocols to create a fun, safe camp environment.

  • Nurture Campers and Families: Build strong, supportive relationships with NORY campers and their families to enhance the overall camp experience.

  • Operations Management: Efficiently oversee and manage all physical aspects of camp operations, including materials, facilities, and daily schedules.

  • Administrative Oversight: Maintain accurate, up-to-date administrative records for all aspects of the camp to ensure smooth daily operations and compliance.

  • Step In Teaching: Enthusiastically lead camp activities or classes to maintain a high-quality experience for campers when coverage is needed.

Qualifications

  • Team Management: Proven experience managing and coaching a team of 4+ teachers while fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.

  • Family Engagement: A proven track record of building strong, professional relationships with families in a camp or educational setting.

  • Teaching Background: 5+ years of experience teaching children ages 3 to 13 in any subject or discipline. Experience with a STEM-focused curriculum is preferred.

  • Growth Mindset: A distinct willingness to learn, adapt, and quickly adopt new technologies and operational skills.
