Job Description
Olsson is seeking a Substation Engineering Group Leader to lead and grow a team focused on delivering substation solutions for mission critical and private-sector clients in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This leader will be responsible for both business and people leadership while helping scale a team that supports some of our most strategic specialty project opportunities.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, develop, and grow a team of engineers, designers, project managers, and technical leaders focused on specialty substation projects.
- Lead through leaders by coaching and supporting team leads and senior engineering professionals.
- Collaborate with market, operations, and technical team leaders to establish strategies that support team growth and client success.
- Drive recruiting, hiring, workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
- Foster a culture focused on collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Build and strengthen relationships with mission critical, data center, industrial, and private-sector clients.
- Support business development efforts, including client engagement, market expansion, and strategic pursuits.
- Drive group performance, resource allocation, utilization, and financial objectives.
- Ensure projects are delivered with a high standard of quality, responsiveness, and technical excellence.
- Help identify and implement process improvements that support scalability and operational efficiency for specialty projects and clients.
- Partner with technical leadership to advance engineering standards, best practices, and staff development.
Qualifications

You bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 8+ years of substation engineering experience.
- 4+ years of experience leading and/or mentoring teams within an engineering consulting, utility, or infrastructure environment.
- Experience leading through leaders, including project managers, supervisors, technical managers, or team leads (preferred).
- Demonstrated success in talent development, team growth, and organizational leadership.
- Strong business acumen with experience winning work, managing staffing, cultivating financial performance, and achieving operational goals.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.

The typical annual salary range for this role is as listed below. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Employees in this role may be eligible for our performance‑based bonus and merit increases.
