Structural Steel Quality Inspector
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $32.00/hour, with potential for a higher rate based on experience
Position Overview
We are looking for a Quality Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to inspect materials, welds, and finished components for compliance with specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
This is a hands-on, shop-floor position in an active, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of structural steel fabrication experience.
- Experience in quality control, inspection, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Experience using quality inspection tools, including:
- Fillet weld gauges
- V-WAC gauges
- Squares
- Tape measures
- Other standard inspection equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience with nondestructive testing methods, including:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Additional certifications related to structural steel fabrication, bolting, coatings, or welding inspection.
- Previous experience in steel manufacturing.
Preferred:
Work Environment
- Primarily shop-floor based with limited office work.
- Active manufacturing environment.
- Non-climate-controlled facility with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, walking, and inspecting materials throughout the workday.
