The Staff Accountant or Accounting Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards within a fast-paced tech-enabled marketing agency. This position contributes to expense tracking, job/project accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and process improvement. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills and understands the unique financial workflows of an agency; project-based billing, WIP, pass-through costs, time tracking, and client-based revenue cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Month-End Close
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
- Fixed assets management, including assets proposal, disposal and assets roll forward reporting
- Responsible for bank matching and reconciliation
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure consistent application of GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices, match POs, reconcile vendor payment, and ensure proper coding to jobs and cost centers.
- Support the Employee and Credit Card workflow and reimbursement review and approval process.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare financial schedules, supporting documentation, and management reports as needed
- Provide data and insights during audits and internal reviews.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry standards.
- Support audit preparation and participate in external financials audits and tax audits as required.
- Maintain Sales and Use and other tax registrations and monitor correspondences on a regular basis
Requirements
- 1-3 years of tax and/or accounting related experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices.
- Experience with project-based accounting, WIP, and client billing.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems (NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Intacct, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
- CPA track or certification preferred.
- Familiarity with time-tracking and project management systems preferred.

In accordance with applicable pay-transparency laws, the compensation range for this role reflects a good-faith estimate based on factors including internal equity, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and market data. Final compensation will be determined at the time of offer. Range: $65,000-$75,000 USD annually.
