Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Storage Engineer to drive the development, enhancement, technical enablement, and operational excellence of our cloud-based storage products. The ideal candidate is experienced with Ceph and other storage technologies from major storage manufacturers. This is a highly visible role in a high-growth technology company, which will require you to work across teams to deliver high-performance, resilient storage solutions at scale.. Key Responsibilities
Develop new features and enhancements for Vultr's storage product portfolio, focusing on reliability, performance, scalability, and customer needs
Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to help define technical requirements and influence product direction
Oversee day-to-day operational health of storage platforms, including troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis
Drive technical enablement by building reference implementations and delivering technical documentation, training materials, and onboarding resources
Lead proof-of-concept initiatives, product evaluations, and performance testing of storage features
Develop and improve automation tools for operational efficiency and deployment
Create and maintain knowledge articles and runbooks to empower engineering, support, and sales teams
Advocate for and promote best practices in storage design, deployment, and operations internally and with customers
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform Vultr’s storage product roadmap
Qualifications
8+ years’ experience in storage systems engineering, with a blend of product development, enablement, and operational responsibilities
Proven background in building and managing distributed storage products (preferably with Ceph or similar platforms)
Strong proficiency with Linux systems and scripting (Python, Bash)
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and containerization technologies (KVM, Kubernetes, etc.)
Demonstrated expertise in technical documentation, enablement, and training
Ability to help define technical requirements with cross-functional teams
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach
Compensation
$130,000 - $150,000
Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
