The Software Development Engineering focus specializes in the design, development and testing of software systems for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.

Responsibilities

• Research, prototype and develop solutions to innovate and improve Qualys' technology platform.
• Design and implement distributed, scalable, high-performance micro service-based applications
• Produce high-quality software with a scalable architecture and design principles
• Designing and implementing microservices which use the spring boot framework.
• Working in compliance with the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• Connecting microservices to interact with databases.
• Understanding of how streaming technologies work such as Kafka.
• Identifying and finding solutions to bugs.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Windsurf, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review workflows for faster delivery cycles.

Required Qualifications

• Excellent programming and designing skills with 4-7 years hands on experience in Java back-end development and skills with Spring-boot framework
• Good understanding of relational databases like Oracle and/or NoSQL DB, preferably Cassandra
• Professional experience working on indexing technology like Elastic Search and caching technologies like Redis or Memcached
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms, application design.
• Real life experience with Continuous Delivery principles and related tools (Kubernetes, AKS, Docker)
• Familiarity with AI-powered coding assistants (Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and the ability to effectively use them for rapid prototyping, code generation, and productivity gains.
• ⁠Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools to measurably reduce development cycle time.
