This role acts as the central technical and maintenance point of contact for assigned offshore unit(s), coordinating across Supply Chain, HSEQ, and Engineering to ensure the unit meets BW Energy's technical, operational, and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include managing and improving the CMMS, driving maintenance planning across short- and long-term horizons (14-day through 5-yearly), overseeing budgets and cost reporting, supporting life extension and modification projects, ensuring critical spares availability, providing breakdown/overhaul support, and participating in incident investigations and Management of Change (MOC) processes—all while conducting regular unit visits to monitor performance and maintenance effectiveness.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
· Focal point for all technical and maintenance activities related to assigned unit(s). Coordinate between functions such as Supply Chain, HSEQ, Engineering / TAs etc. to provide efficient support to the unit.
· In close cooperation with the offshore management team, verify that the Unit meets BW Energy requirements with regards to asset technical condition, operational performance, maintenance philosophies, etc.
· Continuously improve and monitor the Computerized Management Maintenance System (CMMS) for respective Unit and proactively plan for CMMS improvements.
· Ensure the Unit is maintained with respect to Class / Statutory and other regulatory requirements.
· Proactively manage the Planning process, with regards to 14- Day, 30-Day, 90-Day, 1-Yearly, and 2-Yearly, 5-Yearly look-ahead plans for the preparation of all repairs and maintenance activities, shutdown planning, life extension /modification activities, etc.
· Liaise with the Life Extension Project Manager (or project responsible) to understand technical solutions related to life extensions / modifications and provide feedback as required.
· Provide budget proposals for repair and maintenance activities and provide monthly actual cost reporting for such activities.
· Work closely with Supply Chain and coordinate mobilization of external service providers.
· Report to Technical and Maintenance manager on technical and maintenance activities and any other delegated duties such as authorization of PR's and Invoices for spares and services, Management of Change responsibilities etc.
· Visit the Unit on a regular basis as required. It is expected that the Sr Maintenance Engineer visits the unit once in a month (once in 2 months for those who are based in a remote office / foreign country) for monitoring the performance and planning of maintenance activities.
· Actively monitor maintenance work reporting through the CMMS, and other maintenance/inspection reports with the aim to ensure continuous improvement regarding maintenance effectiveness.
· Review critical equipment spares below minimum and instruct/support the Unit as required to maintain critical spare levels.
· Provide breakdown / overhaul support to the Unit. This includes resources/vendor mobilization, spares / tools follow up with supply chain and/or vendor, and any other matters related to the break down.
· Actively participate in incident investigations / root cause analysis along with other departments such as HSEQ.
· Support technical input in preparation before raising an CR(Change Request) and MOC (Management of Change). On MOC approval to proceed, provide input to the engineering process. On MOC approval for implementation, provide support to the Unit and follow up through to MOC completion.
Requirements
Education
· Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Mechatronics, Petroleum, Chemical, Engineering.
· Other education and / or long relevant experience may compensate lack of formal education.
· CREA (Engineering Brazilian Council) register is mandatory. Exceptions for foreign candidates to be analyzed case by case.
Experience
· Solid experience in the offshore oil and gas industry in technical position is mandatory.
· Previous Supervisor or Service experience from FPSOs or offshore platforms is an advantage.
· Technical certifications in the same areas will be considered a differential.
· Previous experience with database systems and maintenance management is an advantage.
· Experience with predictive maintenance tools (vibration monitoring, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound) will be considered a differential.
· Experience requirement may vary for Internal candidates.
Knowledge
· Good knowledge of the relevant requirements of the classification societies and international rules and regulations.
· Advanced English (oral and written).
· FPSO Systems: Good understanding of FPSO design, topsides/subsea architecture, production systems, utilities (power, cooling, compressed air, waste management)
· Offshore Marine Systems: Basic familiarity with, ballast systems, fire & gas safety.
· Rotating Equipment Diagnosis: Average competency in compressor, turbine, pump, and reciprocating equipment failure modes, condition assessment, and repair strategies
· Condition Monitoring: Knowledge of vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, oil analysis.
Other
· The position will require travel to offshore units.
