Role Summary
This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccines Early BioProcess Analytical Development group. The individual will perform bioassay sample testing, method development and method qualification studies in support of early vaccine development. Assays include but are not limited to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), cell-based assays, or other types of bioassays. The individual will perform sample testing to support process development, formulation development, critical reagents characterization and ongoing stability studies. This is a dynamic position that will require work on fast-moving projects.
Role Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Perform sample testing in support of vaccine development, including bioprocess and formulation development, release, stability, characterization, and adjuvant compatibility studies.
Have the ability to perform necessary calculations independently and discuss conclusions with their manager.
Document experiments and analyze data from sample testing and method development/qualification experiments using an electronic laboratory notebook with guidance.
Contribute to the authoring of technical documents including development reports, analytical test methods, and method qualification reports.
Read scientific and technical literature to stay current in the area. Provide daily laboratory operations support.
Qualifications
Must Have
BA/BS with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience OR MA/MS degree in biology or related discipline with 0-3 years relevant experience.
Prior research experience working in an analytical lab.
Good working knowledge of antibody-antigen interactions and bioassay analytical techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is required.
Nice to Have
Prior experience working with plate-based immune methods such as ELISA.
Prior experience using NGS (ie. Illumina) workflows.
Previous experience with automation (ie. Hamilton STAR).
Experience with documentation using electronic laboratory notebooks.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Standard laboratory conditions – sitting, standing, primarily lab based.
