Role Purpose
The Sales Manager will play a key leadership role in driving the growth and commercial performance of our business across the greater Belfast area. You will develop and deliver sales strategies that grow revenue, improve profitability and strengthen our position in the market.
You will build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with both new and existing customers, while leading the development of new markets, sectors and opportunities. You will have overall responsibility for managing the sales pipeline, maximising conversion and ensuring opportunities are delivered effectively and profitably from initial enquiry through to project completion and handover.

What will I be doing?
Based at Springfield Road and reporting to the Branch Director, you will be responsible for:
Sales Leadership & Strategy: Lead and develop the BDE’s, setting clear objectives and priorities to deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth. Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with wider business objectives and market opportunities.
Business Development & Market Growth: Identify and develop new markets, sectors, customers and commercial opportunities through proactive sales activity, networking, market intelligence, market research and marketing initiatives.
Pipeline Management & Conversion: Take overall responsibility for the sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are effectively managed from initial enquiry through to project handover. Drive conversion, sales value and profitability while maintaining a strong focus on commercial performance.
Customer Relationship Management: Build strong, strategic relationships with key customers and stakeholders. Understand customer requirements, resolve issues, gather and act on feedback, and identify opportunities for repeat, additional and new business.
CRM & Sales Data: Champion the effective use of CRM systems across the sales function. Ensure accurate and timely data is maintained and use customer and pipeline information to support forecasting, decision-making and performance improvement.
Commercial & Project Management: Ensure effective handover of sales opportunities to production and other operational teams. Support commercial negotiations, manage customer expectations and work collaboratively across departments to maximise project and sales opportunities.
Marketing & Market Development: Support and coordinate marketing activity to increase market visibility and strengthen customer engagement, including customer communications, case studies, events and targeted market development initiatives.
Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify and proactively manage commercial, operational, technical and customer risks while identifying opportunities to improve sales performance, profitability and market share.
Reporting & Business Planning: Provide accurate sales forecasts, market intelligence, performance reporting and commercial recommendations to support business decision-making, budgeting and strategic planning.
Continuous Improvement: Review and improve sales processes, systems and the overall customer experience. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, sales conversion and margin while ensuring the business remains agile and responsive to market conditions.
What do we need from you?
Proven experience in a senior customer-facing sales or commercial role.
Experience of leading, developing or managing a sales team.
Strong commercial awareness with a proven track record of delivering sales and margin growth.
Good knowledge of building materials and the construction market.
Proven experience in business development, account management and developing long-term customer relationships.
Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting and commercial opportunities.
Willingness to work across both field-based and office-based sales environments.
A full, clean driving licence.
A strong focus on delivering an excellent customer experience.
Confidence using IT systems, including CRM platforms, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, including face-to-face, telephone and written communication.
A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build effective relationships across sales, operations, production and other business functions.
Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day commercial demands.
