POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Global and Public Health is seeking a Research Assistant 1 to join a research team examining misinformation-related topics. The successful candidate will contribute to a series of studies focused on the political economy of misinformation and its impact on health-seeking behaviours. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in applied public health and social science research while working within a collaborative academic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Executes comprehensive scoping reviews on misinformation-related topics, including literature searches, study screening, data extraction, research documentation, and compilation of findings from relevant academic databases.
Executes participant recruitment activities and conducts semi-structured qualitative interviews to investigate misinformation exposure and health-seeking behaviours, following established research protocols, processes, and procedures.
Analyzes and interprets qualitative and literature-based research data, synthesizes findings, and disseminates results through literature summaries, research reports, and draft sections of academic manuscripts.
Implements established research methods and contributes to the refinement and improvement of data collection, analysis, and knowledge synthesis processes within the project.
Responsible for the quality and results of their own work, ensuring research activities, documentation, and project deliverables are completed accurately and in accordance with research standards and timelines.
Performs various administrative tasks related to the research project, including maintaining study records, coordinating participant scheduling, supporting ethics-related documentation, and assisting with project reporting requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Health, or a related field.
Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in political science, public health, social sciences, or a related discipline
Experience with qualitative research methods, including participant recruitment and interviewing.
Strong literature review and academic research skills.
Strong ability to analyze and interpret research data and findings and communicate results effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare research materials, reports, presentations, and knowledge dissemination products for diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary and multicultural research environments.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing research priorities.
