SMX is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure solutions in alignment with operational strategy. The successful candidate will maintain an awareness of market and technology trends in order to bring best-of-breed solutions to the client. They will apply advanced consulting skills and/or extensive technical expertise; full industry knowledge. They will develop innovative solutions to complex routing, switching, and transport problems. This person will work without considerable direction; mentors and may supervise team members.
This is a full-time onsite position in Ft. Bragg, NC.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating complex network architectures and requirements with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
- Implementing and maintaining robust network infrastructure and routing/switching controls, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and seamless traffic flow across large enterprise environments.
- Perform architecture reviews, capacity planning, and end-to-end troubleshooting across network, system, and core transport areas to isolate complex outages and identify performance bottlenecks or indicators of degradation.
Required Skills, Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years directly related experience or Master’s degree and 3+ years directly related experience. Years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree for certain roles. Certifications may be accepted in lieu of a degree for certain technical roles.
- Experience architecting and designing IP networks, including developing and documenting network topologies.
- Experience troubleshooting and restoring network and system outages.
- Experience designing and implementing DoD enclaves, including compute storage, networking, routing, switching, and end-user devices.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Cisco ISE.
- Knowledge of Cisco Firepower systems and firewall appliances.
- Experience configuring and maintaining TACLANEs.
- Experience building and maintaining SolarWinds.
- Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam.
- DoD IAT Level II Certification.
- CCNA Certification (or higher networking certification).
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience deploying Gigamon Appliances and network taps.
- Experience with Cisco Spine and Leaf network architectures.
- Knowledge of CSfC Multi-Site Connectivity Capability Package.
- Knowledge of Cisco Secure Network Analytics or Cisco Nexus Dashboard Insights.
- Knowledge of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC).
- Knowledge of implementing NetFlow.
- Ability to be a self-starter, work without considerable direction, and work with a team.
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including for coordinating efforts and establishing customer relations.
- CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, or CCNP Data Center Certification.
