What to Expect

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

Our first focus goal is to build better transformers to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.

Job Overview

As Materials and Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for inventory, receiving, and shipping as a single function supporting production of the Heron Link solid-state transformer. Additionally, you will be responsible for building the lineside delivery process that moves material from stock to the production lines, and for shaping how material flows through the factory across all three of our Scotts Valley buildings as we scale.

There is no existing process to inherit. You will build SOPs, cycle counts, receiving flows, and packaging standards from near-zero, working alongside the team building the MES and Material System you will use to do it.

How You Will Contribute

  • Inventory: Own inventory accuracy across raw material, WIP, and finished goods. Set up cycle counting and ABC classification, own warehouse layout and location strategy, and manage lot and date-code traceability for shelf-life-sensitive materials such as encapsulants, adhesives, and catalyzed compounds.

  • Receiving: Run incoming receiving end to end — purchase order matching, quantity and condition checks, and hand-off to inspection. Resolve discrepancies and damage claims with Purchasing, and log every transaction accurately in the MES.

  • Shipping: Manage outbound shipments including finished goods, returns, transfers, and RMAs, along with carrier coordination and packaging and labeling compliance.

  • Lineside Delivery: Build and run the internal pick-and-deliver process from stock to the production lines. As the system’s picking and routing features mature, be the primary operator and validator of that workflow.

  • Internal Systems Collaboration: Serve as the primary materials-side user of the inventory, receiving, and shipping modules of our internal MES and Material System. Give the development team structured feedback on workflow gaps and edge cases, not just bug reports, and participate in requirements gathering and user acceptance testing for new materials features.

  • Supply Chain Collaboration: Work with Supply Chain Management on packaging size and configuration for lineside delivery, right-sizing containers and kits for point of use to minimize handling and floor space.

What You Will Bring

We have a short list of must-have requirements. We prioritize a strong grip on first principles, hands-on skills, and a sense of initiative. Domain-specific knowledge and experience will help determine the career level for each hire.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Five or more years in materials, warehouse, or inventory management.

  • Direct hands-on experience running inventory, receiving, and shipping transactions in an execution, warehouse, or resource planning system.

  • Proven ability to build process from scratch in a startup environment — SOPs, cycle counts, receiving flows, and packaging standards where none existed before.

  • Working knowledge of receiving inspection, cycle counting, ABC classification, and lot and date-code traceability.

  • Strong cross-functional communication — as comfortable with engineers on system requirements as with supply chain on packaging specifications.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Materials or warehouse experience in hardware, electronics, or electric vehicle manufacturing.

  • Comfort as an early user of an evolving internal tool, including patience with rough edges and the discipline to report them well.

  • Forklift and pallet jack operation, certified or willing to certify.

  • Experience handling shelf-life-sensitive or hazardous chemical materials.

If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.
