About the position 

The Manager, Academic Governance Services leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of academic governance processes for vocational education (VE), associate degree and non-award offerings. 

Drawing on strong expertise in VE, HE and non-award governance, you will provide strategic advice and coordinate activities across multiple teams to ensure programs comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements and quality standards. You will interpret legislation and governance frameworks, drive process improvements, and support the development of governance approaches across a range of domestic and international contexts. 

As a senior leader within the Quality and Compliance team, you will provide expert guidance on governance pathways and compliance requirements, assess governance readiness, exercise delegated authority for governance actions, and support internal and external audit activities. 

Working closely with Directors, Program Managers, the CoVE Partnerships team and key stakeholders across the University, you will support program approvals, amendments, transitions and discontinuations, oversee governance workflows and reporting, and help ensure academic quality and compliance across CoVE's portfolio. 

This role requires exceptional stakeholder engagement, strong communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships that support effective and compliant governance outcomes. 

In this role, you will 

  • Lead the review, development and implementation of academic governance processes and workflows across CoVE. 

  • Provide expert advice on governance pathways, compliance requirements and program lifecycle activities, including approvals, amendments, transitions and discontinuations. 

  • Ensure new and updated offerings comply with internal policies, external regulations and quality standards. 

  • Assess governance readiness, authorise progression through governance processes and support sound decision-making. 

  • Oversee governance workflows, reporting and risk management to support effective and compliant program governance. 

  • Build strong collaborative relationships and provide trusted guidance to stakeholders across CoVE and the broader University. 

  • Lead and support the Academic Governance team (currently two staff). 

 

To be successful in this position, you'll bring 

  • Significant experience in academic governance, ideally within vocational education and/or higher education. 

  • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and quality assurance processes. 

  • Demonstrated experience developing and improving governance processes, policies and workflows. 

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and prepare high-quality reports and governance documentation. 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex environments and manage governance risks. 

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, interpret data and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes. 

 

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
