Are you passionate about making, design, and empowering others to bring their ideas to life? The Innovation & Entrepreneurship (INE) Program at Muhlenberg College is seeking two energetic Makerspace Technicians for the 2026–2027 academic year. Working 20 hours per week each, Technicians play a vital hands-on role in keeping the INE Fab Lab running smoothly, helping makers bring their prototypes to life, and actively spreading the word about the lab across campus through creative marketing and outreach. Located in the Fahy Commons for Public Engagement and Innovation, the INE Fab Lab is a vibrant, interdisciplinary community hub. Key Responsibilities:

• Marketing & Fab Lab Promotion: Drive student engagement, workshop attendance, and campus-wide awareness of the INE Fab Lab. Create engaging promotional content (flyers, digital signage, social media, short video highlights), feature student showcase projects, and market lab events.
• User Support & Community Building: Foster a welcoming, inclusive space for makers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Provide project guidance, safety check-outs, and hands-on equipment support.
• Equipment & Space Maintenance: Help maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment (such as 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking tools, and electronics). Keep the workshop clean, organized, and running safely.
• Workshops & Events: Assist in organizing, marketing, and co-hosting workshops, open houses, and special campus maker events.
• Operations Support: Assist with inventory management, tool check-outs, material tracking, and basic administrative tasks for the INE program.

Qualifications:

While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical experience or coursework preferred.
• Practical experience operating and maintaining standard makerspace tools (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking tools, electronics/soldering).
• Interest or experience in social media marketing, graphic design, content creation/video, or promotional outreach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for assisting others.
• Knowledge of general shop safety protocols and best practices.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for scheduled events.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and professional environment where all members of our campus community are respected, valued, can succeed, and thrive.
• Successful completion of satisfactory background checks including but not limited to education verification, criminal background, and child abuse clearance.
