Job Description: Lead Technology Product Manager (Individual Contributor)

Experience Required: 10 to 16 years
About the Role:

As a Lead Technology Product Manager (IC), you will independently drive execution of complex, cross‑functional technology product initiatives from discovery through delivery, adoption, and lifecycle optimization. This role is designed for a highly experienced product manager who operates with significant autonomy, leads through influence (not authority), and serves as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Engineering, UX, Architecture, Data, Marketing, Sales, and Business teams.

You will own end‑to‑end product roadmap execution, translate strategic business objectives into customer‑valued outcomes, and ensure delivery of high‑quality, scalable, secure, and reliable capabilities. While not a people manager, you are expected to raise the bar on product practices, lead cross‑team alignment, and guide decision‑making across multiple workstreams, dependencies, and levels of complexity. You will define success metrics, use data and customer insights to refine direction

To be successful in this role, you need to

  • Lead the development, enhancement, and optimization of product features across the full product lifecycle—from discovery and development through launch, iteration, and retirement.
  • Own and continuously refine the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, UX, Architecture, Data, and business stakeholders to deliver customer‑centric, technically sound solutions.
  • Gather and document requirements; define epics and features; write high‑quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritize backlogs to maximize customer and business value.
  • Work daily with agile delivery teams as a Product Owner when needed, ensuring backlog readiness and successful sprint outcomes.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and product usage analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation, improvement, and innovation.
  • Drive user experience and interface design improvements, incorporating UX best practices and customer feedback.
  • Establish clear success metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to enable data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor product performance, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness; proactively identify risks and initiate improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross‑team alignment and dependency management, facilitating timely decisions, tradeoffs, and prioritization without formal authority.
  • Lead and analyze beta testing and customer validation efforts to inform product direction and readiness.
  • Incorporate customer feedback and operational signals into ongoing product enhancements.
  • Support go‑to‑market activities, including product documentation, release notes, and enablement for marketing, sales, and other stakeholders.

Skills and Competencies

  • Product Strategy & Execution: Proven ability to translate strategy into executable plans and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Product Enhancements & Lifecycle Management: Expertise in managing products end‑to‑end, including enhancements, optimization, and retirement.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and define measurable success criteria.
  • Customer Empathy & UX Optimization: Deep understanding of customer workflows and experience design principles.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership: Ability to lead through influence, align diverse stakeholders, and manage dependencies across teams.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Skilled in evaluating market trends and competitive landscapes to inform product decisions.
  • Communication Excellence: Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences; strong written and verbal skills.
  • Execution Discipline: Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensures product objectives align with broader business goals and priorities.
  • Tools & Artifacts: Proficiency with tools such as Visio or similar for system diagrams, workflows, and process mapping.

Qualifications

Must have

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or similar program.
  • 10+ years of experience working across SDLC and delivering customer-facing technology products (cloud/SaaS preferred). (Lead-level expectation)
  • Minimum 7 years experience as an independent Product Manager / Technical Product Manager / Product Owner owning backlog and delivery outcomes along with product strategy.
  • Proven expertise in product management including requirements definition, prioritization, stakeholder collaboration, and negotiation.
  • Strong strategic thinking: ability to understand business context, evaluate trade-offs, and translate into execution plans.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, including ability to interpret complex data to inform decisions.
  • Deep customer empathy with ability to understand end-to-end scenarios and define measurable success criteria.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; able to produce clear product narratives and decision documents.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and execution discipline across multiple workstreams.
  • Skilled in negotiating priorities with business and technical stakeholders; able to lead through influence.
  • Proficiency with Visio or similar tools for system diagrams, workflows, and process mapping.

Nice to have

  • SAFe PM/PO, CSPO, or PSPO certification.
  • Experience with platform integrations, identity/authentication concepts, security/compliance considerations, and enterprise SaaS patterns. (Generalized, not product-specific)
  • Exposure to AI-enabled user experiences and data-driven automation initiatives.
  • Experience with mobile-responsive design principles and managing mobile-first or mobile-optimized product strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gain deep understanding of customer workflows, product ecosystem, and business goals.
  • Gather and document requirements; define epics and features; write high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria; and prioritize the backlog to maximize customer and business value.
  • Establish clear outcomes, success metrics, and reporting mechanisms to support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, communicate, and continuously refine a roadmap aligned with strategic priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Plan and prioritize work with engineering teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery; validate that delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria.
  • Drive cross-team alignment, proactively manage dependencies and risks, and facilitate timely decisions and trade-offs.
  • Evaluate product usage, customer feedback, competitors, market, and operational signals to identify improvement opportunities in performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Contribute to product documentation, release notes, and customer/stakeholder communications to support readiness and adoption.
