Amentum is seeking a Heavy Truck Driver to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Heavy Truck Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating earthmoving and construction equipment to support project operations. This position performs a variety of equipment operation, inspection, maintenance, material movement, and site support activities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with company and contract requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy earthmoving and construction equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner while minimizing the risk of injury, property damage, equipment damage, or loss of life.
• Operate equipment such as, but not limited to:
  • Motor graders
  • Front end loaders
  • Backhoes
  • Excavators
  • Vibratory rollers
  • Tractors
  • Skid steers
  • Track loaders
  • Other earthmoving or construction equipment as assigned
• Perform equipment operations in accordance with established project specifications, operating procedures, manufacturer recommendations, and safety requirements.
• Conduct pre operation and post operation inspections to identify equipment defects, safety concerns, fluid leaks, damage, or other conditions that may affect safe operation.
• Perform daily safety and operational checks to ensure assigned equipment is in safe working condition before use.
• Report equipment deficiencies, maintenance requirements, damage, and unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
• Perform basic operator level preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, fluid checks, and other routine maintenance activities as authorized.
• Ensure equipment is properly utilized, maintained, secured, and stored when not in operation.
• Safely move, load, position, grade, excavate, or otherwise manipulate soil, materials, debris, and other items as required by the assignment.
• Read and understand equipment load charts, operating limitations, and applicable safety information.
• Coordinate earthmoving activities with supervisors, coworkers, ground personnel, and other equipment operators to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintain awareness of personnel, vehicles, structures, utilities, materials, and other hazards in the work area.
• Follow established procedures for working around moving equipment, personnel, vehicles, and materials.
• Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, coworkers, and other project personnel regarding equipment operations and work requirements.
• Interact professionally with customers and support the movement of materials and equipment as directed.
• Comply with all applicable safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, standard operating procedures, and site-specific requirements.
• Maintain accurate equipment logs, inspection records, maintenance documentation, and other required reports.
• Complete required documentation and perform limited administrative or office duties associated with equipment operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, equipment damage, near misses, and unsafe working conditions in accordance with company procedures.
• Participate in required safety meetings, training, briefings, and other project related activities.
• Adapt to changing work priorities, schedules, locations, and operational requirements.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating heavy earthmoving or construction equipment.
• Demonstrated experience safely operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
• Experience working in construction, civil engineering, site preparation, facilities support, or a related environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment inspection, basic maintenance, proper storage, and safe handling procedures.
• Ability to read and understand equipment load charts and operating specifications.
• Equipment Operator training and certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research preferred.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
• Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
• A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfields, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

 Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
