Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist) | Perth, WA
There's a difference between treating hands and specialising in them. This clinic has spent over two decades building a reputation as one of Perth's leading hand and upper limb rehabilitation centres, and they're looking for a Hand Therapist who wants to go deep in this specialty, not just add it to a general caseload.
You'll be working alongside a genuinely multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and specialist hand surgeons, across a network of clinics spanning metro Perth and the South West. This is a place built specifically around hand and upper limb care, with the systems, referral relationships and clinical culture to match.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering one-on-one assessment and treatment for a wide range of hand, wrist, elbow and upper limb conditions, from fractures and tendon repairs to nerve injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation
- Designing and adjusting individualised, evidence-based treatment plans, drawing on splinting, manual therapy, exercise prescription, scar and oedema management, and neuromuscular retraining
- Fabricating custom thermoplastic orthoses and splints tailored to each patient's presentation
- Working closely with surgeons, GPs and other referrers to keep treatment aligned with each patient's recovery goals
- Supporting patients through the full rehabilitation journey, including return to work and return to sport planning
What They're Looking For
- Occupational Therapist with General Registration with AHPRA
- Hand therapy specific clinical experience is essential for this role
- Strong clinical reasoning and confidence managing a varied upper limb caseload independently
- A genuine interest in ongoing professional development within the hand therapy specialty (AHTA involvement highly regarded)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust with patients and collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary colleagues
What's on Offer
- The opportunity to work within a well-established, specialist hand therapy team, not a generalist clinic where hand therapy is a side interest
- Direct collaboration with respected hand surgeons and a strong referral network
- Support for professional development and specialisation, including pathways toward AHTA accreditation
- A multidisciplinary, collegial team culture across a business with over 20 years in the Perth market
- Multiple clinic locations across metro Perth and the South West
