ELECTRICAL AND WIRING TECHNICIAN - EL SEGUNDO, CA
The Wiring Technician is responsible for building the harnesses that make our aircraft fly-by-wire. You'll work from diagrams and schematics, building harnesses to internal and external standards, and work closely with engineers in the systems integration lab.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build prototype and production wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and subassemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class [2 / 3] criteria, including crimped, mechanically secured, and soldered interconnections.
- Prep, splice, tie, lace, and dress wire using calibrated crimp tools, thermal strippers, and thermal tweezers.
- Hand solder electrical and electronic assemblies to J-STD-001 Class [2 / 3], including wire-to-terminal and solder cup connections.
- Perform first article inspection against drawings and wire lists, applying IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 acceptability criteria.
- Diagnose failures to root cause with oscilloscopes and DMMs, then document findings and corrective action.
- Work from schematics, wire lists, and interconnect drawings; red-line them and report discrepancies to engineering.
- Analyze test data and recommend changes to components, harness design, or test procedures.
- Ability to interpret wire lists, perform continuity check-out to ensure correct wiring, splicing wires, wire prepping using thermal tweezers, spot tying, and performing other various tasks related to wire routing and wire dressing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years in electrical assembly, harness fabrication, or avionics installation.
- Ability to build to IPC/WHMA-A-620, solder to J-STD-001, and inspect to IPC-A-610.
- DC harness wiring with D-Sub, Micro-D, and circular connectors, including crimping with calibrated tooling.
- Reads schematics, wire lists, and interconnect diagrams without close supervision.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, and similar test equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CIS or CIT certification in J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Class 3 or J-STD-001 Space Addendum work on flight or space hardware.
- Automated harness test systems (Cirris, DIT-MCO, or similar), including test program setup.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and AS9102 first article reporting.
