About the Role

As Director of Income Tax Operations (IC6), you will serve as the principal technical authority and process owner for Yahoo's income tax accounting and financial statement disclosures, from consolidated global provisions to complex footnote disclosures. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Tax Operations, you will lead high-visibility tax deliverables across External Reporting, FP&A, Accounting, and external audit partners.
 

This role is designed for an experienced tax professional who pairs deep ASC 740 mastery with an AI-forward mindset actively modernizing legacy tax workflows through automated pipelines, Oracle Financials, and deployment and validation of generative AI tools. If you want technical depth, real ownership, and the room to modernize processes rather than simply maintain them, this role offers all three.

What You'll Do

• Own the preparation and review of Yahoo's consolidated and segmented annual and quarterly tax provisions, including all tax footnote disclosures

• Serve as the primary point of contact for our external financial statement auditors

• Lead, mentor, and develop the income tax accounting team, driving timelines and deliverables to completion

• Provide technical guidance on material transactions and complex tax accounting matters

• Strengthen and support the income tax controls environment

• Oversee the global income tax account reconciliation process

• Drive process optimization by leveraging Oracle Financials, automation, and AI to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across Tax Operation workflows

• Establish rigorous human-in-the-loop review and governance frameworks to critically evaluate, validate, and verify AI-assisted tax calculations, ensuring zero tolerance for compliance errors or data hallucination

• Build durable partnerships across Accounting, External Reporting and FP&A

• Prioritize and deliver multiple concurrent projects on time and on budget

• Translate technical tax nuance into clear, practical guidance for non-tax stakeholders

• Monitor developments in tax law and accounting policy, and assess their impact on Yahoo

What You'll Bring

• A desire to make a measurable impact at a transformational, global company

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA or CPA-eligible preferred

• 12+ years of progressive tax experience, including at least 5 years in public accounting and/or the tax department of a multinational public company

• Deep, working command of ASC 740

• Hands-on proficiency with Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud Service (TRCS)

• Strong tax technical foundation paired with genuine curiosity about how legislation affects a corporate taxpayer

• Experience driving process improvements through automation and leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail

• Proven ability to build trust and work cross-functionally in a distributed, remote-first environment

• A structured approach to work: building project and process trackers, and documenting positions clearly and defensibly

• Full ownership and accountability in a deadline-driven function

• Proficiency with Claude, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace

The compensation for this position ranges from $129,210.00 - $281,305.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
