The Director of Executive Security Service helps support the management of physical security for the Commissioner and his family. This role assists with identifying threats, mitigating vulnerabilities, and maintaining secure environments wherever the Commissioner and his family work, reside, and travel.

Responsibilities include supporting the evaluation of the Commissioner’s activities to identify security considerations, potential threats, and vulnerabilities, and helping determine the appropriate level of security. This includes participating in advanced work at locations the Commissioner will visit to identify security concerns and potential vulnerabilities. The Director also helps implement and maintain security procedures and protocols for the Commissioner’s personal residence, including mail screening, security system evaluations, and background screening of service and repair personnel.

The Director supports the coordination and oversight of investigations into threats made against the Commissioner and his family. This includes assisting with assessments of investigative requirements, coordinating with law enforcement partners, supporting decisions regarding subject engagement, and ensuring proper documentation in the Security Department’s investigative systems.

Additionally, the Director assists with the day-to-day operations of the executive protection unit, including coordinating assignments, supporting operational activities, and contributing to performance management. The role also supports the selection, training, and oversight of contract personnel providing security, transportation, and executive protection services.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support the identification, coordination, and execution of detailed and complex investigations involving threats against the Commissioner and/or the organization
  • Maintain proficiency in surveillance detection, risk and vulnerability assessment, countermeasures, and first aid
  • Conduct and support advanced work for locations visited by the Commissioner to identify security considerations and potential vulnerabilities
  • Assist in evaluating the Commissioner’s activities to determine the appropriate security posture and risk mitigation strategies
  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of residential security measures
  • Prepare and contribute to operational security plans, investigative reports, and executive summaries with a high degree of accuracy and clarity
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners, including law enforcement, to support security operations and investigations
  • Assist in monitoring vendor performance and ensuring compliance with established security standards and protocols
  • Support the execution of executive protection operations in alignment with established plans and direction from the Director

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in dignitary protection, executive protection, or a related security field
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, team lead, or operational coordination role, with responsibility for supporting personnel, assignments, or projects

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree (master’s or JD)
  • Prior experience supporting security planning for large-scale events, dignitary protection, intelligence operations, or counter-terrorism efforts

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics:

  • Strong understanding of civil and criminal judicial processes, including rules of evidence, prosecutorial considerations, and court proceedings
  • Experience in intelligence gathering, including use of online research tools, subscription services, and public records
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and briefings
  • Established relationships with law enforcement at the local, state, and federal levels, or the ability to build such partnerships
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their relevance to threat monitoring
  • Proficiency in investigative databases and standard business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of internal and external organizations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Provide day-to-day oversight and coordination of assigned personnel, including both full-time and contract staff, in support of executive protection operations
  • Support the Director in supervising the executive protection unit, including assignment planning, operational direction, and performance feedback
  • Contribute to onboarding, training, and development of team members and contract personnel
  • Assist in the selection and coordination of contract resources supporting security, transportation, and executive protection needs
  • Monitor team performance and provide input to the Director on evaluations, staffing needs, and operational improvements
  • Serve as a point of contact for operational issues, escalating significant risks or concerns to the Director as appropriate

Physical Demands:

  • Role requires extended periods of standing, walking, and surveillance in support of security operations for the Commissioner, his family, and other designated personnel
  • Requires a level of physical fitness necessary to respond effectively to security threats

Travel:

  • Domestic and international travel required; approximately 40%–60% depending on operational needs

Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-time position requiring flexibility, including nights, weekends, and travel
  • Schedule, including time off, is expected to align with operational requirements and protectee needs

$185,000$225,000 USD
