What to Expect:

In this role you will: 

• Design high-performance, resilient database and platform solution (virtualization, container, storage…) for on-prem, hybrid and cloud environments
• Partner with engineering, DevOps and business teams to assess requirements and translate them into robust, scalable technical solutions
• Lead the evaluation and selection of technologies aligned with data platform needs
• Provide governance and technical leadership in data availability, integrity, backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on best practices in data management, storage optimization and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
• Develop and maintain architectural standards, reference models and solution blueprints
• Contribute to capacity planning, performance tuning and cost optimization across storage and database platforms
• Design cloud-compatible database architectures using Oracle RAC, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle GoldenGate, Cassandra, Amazon RDS, Azure Database, Google Cloud SQL and other cloud-native database solutions
• Provide expertise in migrating, managing and maintaining database solutions across cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Evaluate, recommend and integrate new database technologies and strategies, including serverless databases, managed database services and data warehousing solutions
• Ensure compliance with industry best practices related to data security, availability, performance and disaster recovery across cloud and hybrid environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze data needs and provide strategic database solutions
• Evaluate and recommend the right backend storage technology and architecture to meet the IO needs of database and applications
• Mentor database administrators and developers to adopt best practices in database design, backup and recovery solutions, cloud integration and management

What will make you successful:

We are seeking professionals with:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
• At least 10 years of relevant experience of which 5 are in architecture of global approaches and solutions
• Minimum 7 years of experience in database architecture, administration, and platform engineering
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders

Database Expertise

• Strong experience with Oracle technologies (RAC, ExaCC, GoldenGate) and Apache Cassandra
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB is a plus
• Proven expertise in designing and deploying relational and non-relational (NoSQL) database solutions
• Hands-on experience with cloud-managed database services (OCI Autonomous Database, AWS Aurora, Azure Cosmos DB, GCP Bigtable)
• Strong capabilities in database observability, monitoring, and performance analysis across hybrid and cloud environments

Platform & Infrastructure

• Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and storage platforms:

o    SAN-based (HPE XP8, NetApp, Pure Storage)

o    Software-defined/local storage (vSAN, Ceph)

• Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Strong expertise in performance tuning, high availability (HA) and disaster recovery strategies
• Exposure to secrets management solutions (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, Oracle Key Vault)

Cloud & Compliance

• Strong knowledge of major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their storage/database services (e.g., S3, RDS, Azure SQL)
• Solid understanding of security and compliance standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks for OS and databases)
• Experience designing resilient architectures with replication and disaster recovery across hybrid and multi-cloud environments

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $145,877.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $270,915.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee’s contingent on personal and company performance.
