Work for the IMF. Work for the World.

The Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) has a vacancy for a 12-month contractual position for a Data Management Analyst (DMA) / Senior Data Management Analyst (Sr. DMA) in the Institute Training Program (ICDIP) division. This division oversees and coordinates the IMF’s Institute Training Program, which is the IMF’s main vehicle for training government officials in macro-financial topics. It serves as the focal point for headquarters-based and regional training center programs, leads the IMF’s online learning (OL) work by developing and integrating digital and blended learning approaches, and manages the IMF’s Internal Economics Training (IET) program for staff. Through these efforts, ICDIP helps design, coordinate, and modernize the IMF’s external and internal training to support member countries’ needs and strengthen staff skills.

The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Division Chief overseeing OL and will play a key role in supporting the migration of IMF online courses from edX to the new platform (Institute Training Hub or ITH). The candidate will contribute to the end-to-end transition, review and validation of course materials to ensure they are complete, accurate, and fully functional in the new learning environment. A significant share of the role will focus on quality assurance of course assessments across six languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic), including identifying and resolving content, formatting, and functionality issues. The position will also require close coordination with instructional designers, project managers, third party vendor(s) and other stakeholders to ensure timely remediation, consistent delivery, and successful course launch in the new learning platform.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Course migration support and quality assurance: Support the transition of IMF online courses from edX to the Institute Training Hub. Review, validate and test online courses and learning assets to ensure they meet quality standards and provide a seamless learner experience in the new learning environment.

  • Multilingual assessment review: Conduct comprehensive reviews of assessment components, including questions, answer options, instructions, feedback, and scoring logic, to ensure completeness, consistency, and alignment with approved course content.

  • Content validation and defect resolution: Identify and document content and technical issues such as missing or unfinished text, formatting inconsistencies, broken links, incorrect answer keys, scoring discrepancies, and other errors affecting course quality or learner experience. Monitor issue resolution and support testing cycles in close coordination with the transition team.

  • Cross-language consistency checks: Compare course assessments and learning assets across language versions to verify structural and functional equivalence, including the number of questions, assessment format, difficulty levels, media assets, instructions, and overall learner experience.

  • Coordination and tracking: Maintain issue logs, monitor resolution status, and liaise with instructional designers, project managers, and other relevant teams to clarify requirements, track corrections, and support version control and re-testing.

Qualifications:

Educational development, typically acquired through the completion of a university degree, or equivalent, in programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field of study, is required.

The successful candidate should possess:

  • strong written communication skills and a keen eye for detail, with proven experience reviewing, testing and validating online learning content and digital learning assets.
  • Working proficiency (reading and comprehension) across one or more of the course languages.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and content authoring tools is highly desirable, as is experience with quality assurance processes, version control, and issue-tracking workflows.
  • The ideal candidate is organized with strong work management skills, and comfortable managing multiple language versions of content simultaneously, with the patience and rigor to catch subtle errors that less experienced reviewers might overlook.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with instructional designers and teams focused on course adaptations into other languages would also be helpful.

This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.

Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.
