As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves creating tailored software solutions by designing, coding, and improving various components within systems or applications. The role requires working with contemporary frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient solutions that meet unique business requirements. Collaboration and continuous enhancement of software elements are key aspects of daily activities, contributing to the overall success of projects and organizational goals.

SCE Lead Role - Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

SAP SCE Functional Expertise: Lead and manage end-to-end SAP Supply Chain Execution (SCE) operations which includes Outbound/Inbound Delivery processing, Warehouse Management (pick/pack/ship), Transportation Management, and Goods Issue/Receipt within the SAP environment. Deep hands-on knowledge of VL10C, VL02N, and related T-codes is essential. Experience in decentralized warehousing will be an added advantage.

AMS Support & Incident Management: Oversee AMS (Application Management Services) operations for the SCE tower — managing L2/L3 incidents, service requests, and problem records within SLA thresholds. Drive root cause analysis (RCA), implement permanent fixes, and ensure incident trend reduction through proactive monitoring, continuous improvement initiatives, experience in driving major incident management
IDoc & Interface Management: Manage and troubleshoot IDoc processing for SCE-related message types including MBGMCR, SHP OBDLV CONFIRM DECENTRAL, and SHP IBDLV CONFIRM DECENTRAL. Coordinate with middleware and ABAP teams to resolve interface failures, reprocess stuck IDocs, and drive automation opportunities for self-healing workflows.

Modernization Initiatives: Identify and drive optimization opportunities within the SCE landscape, simplification of delivery processing flows, issues within distributed warehousing scenarios. Support upgrade/migration projects and ensure backward compatibility across integrated systems.

Team Leadership & Offshore Delivery Management: Lead a multi-member offshore SCE functional team — providing day-to-day direction, workload prioritization, quality reviews, and mentorship. Foster a high-performance team culture through structured knowledge management, skill development plans, cross-training, and engagement initiatives. Monitor individual and team KPIs to ensure delivery excellence.

Stakeholder Management & Client Engagement: Serve as the primary SCE functional point of contact for client stakeholders, proactively communicating on open issues, delivery milestones, and innovation opportunities. Build strong relationships with client functional leads, project managers, and technical counterparts. Prepare and present status updates, RCA reports, and change impact assessments in governance forums.

Change & Release Management: Lead change management activities for SCE tower — including fit-gap analysis, functional specification authoring, UAT coordination, and hypercare support post-deployment. Ensure all changes follow the agreed SDLC process with complete documentation, peer review sign-off, and client approval prior to production deployment. Effectively drive D&Es for SCE tower.

Innovation & Agentic AI Adoption: Champion innovation within the SCE tower by identifying automation and AI-augmentation opportunities — such as agentic order-to-delivery workflows, predictive defect analysis, and intelligent exception management. Collaborate with technical and AI teams to define use cases, author functional specifications, and pilot solutions on SAP BTP or AI Core platforms.

Reporting, SLA Governance & Continuous Improvement: Own SCE tower performance reporting — tracking incident volumes, ageing backlogs, SLA adherence, and KPI trends on a weekly and monthly basis. Drive continuous improvement through structured retrospectives, proactive backlog management, and implementation of preventive measures that measurably reduce recurring issues.

Qualifications & Experience: 8–10 years of SAP SCE/SD/WM/MM functional experience with at least 4 years in a lead/team management role within an AMS or managed services context. S/4HANA certification preferred. Strong communication skills, ability to manage ambiguity, and prior experience working in a global delivery model with offshore-onshore coordination are essential.
