We are seeking a Coordinator of Volunteer Engagement to join our Volunteer Team. As a Coordinator of Volunteer Engagement, you will assist with responsibilities associated with the Community Engagement program at the Center for Humanitarian Aid including leading volunteer shifts and facilitating orientations. Assist with 27 & Oak Marketplace and coffee bar sales and stocking. Shine Hope as you recruit, screen, coordinate, supervise, and engage all individual and group volunteers in support of Buckner Children and Family Service programs and fundraising efforts for the local region. What you'll do:
- Greet and welcome volunteers, facilitating sign-in, registration, and a positive arrival experience.
- Conduct volunteer orientations and help to facilitate the Barefoot Experience to educate and engage volunteers.
- Coordinate and lead volunteer projects and shifts for groups of up to 50 participants, ensuring a safe, productive, and meaningful experience.
- Assist and support operations with 27 & Oak store & coffee bar sales during volunteer shifts.
- Process sales transactions, manage cash handling procedures, and ensure accurate payment processing.
- Monitor store operations and promptly address customer service, inventory, facility-related issues, or any other store related issues that may arise.
- Maintain the organization, presentation, and stocking of merchandise on the sales floor and in back stock areas.
- Complete all opening and closing procedures, ensuring the facility remains clean, organized, safe, and welcoming.
- Provide professional customer service to volunteers, donors, guests, and customers while representing Buckner's mission, vision, and values.
- Assist with maintaining inventory levels and merchandising displays to support store operations and revenue goals.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and an exceptional volunteer and customer experience.
- Work evenings, weekends, and other non-traditional hours as needed to meet business and operational needs.
- Perform general office tasks as required. Prepare and proofread letters, memos, spreadsheets and other correspondence accurately and timely. Answer phones, take messages and promptly respond to requests for information.
What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required to perform the essential job functions.
- Prior related volunteer & retail experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Requires ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position, including communication with clients, volunteers, and community partners, documentation, and collaboration with staff.
- Recent computer training or computer experience preferred. Aptitude for using other office equipment such as copy machines, fax machines, typewriters, and calculators. • Requires accuracy in record keeping.
- Requires ability to work with frequent interruptions, maintain flexibility, dealing with change and taking initiative. • Requires proficient skills for attention to detail and ability to maintain a routine.
- Requires excellent organizational skills. • Requires ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, employees, volunteers and outside representatives.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; public professional presentation skills required.
- Requires ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required.
- Requires recognition that the organization is a faith-based organization operating with a commitment to Christian principles.
- Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
- Requires ability to walk frequently; occasionally stand for prolonged periods of time; occasionally required to squat, climb stairs, kneel and twist. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time, including extensive airline travel.
- Requires ability to speak clearly and make self-understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with extreme accuracy and precisions to give directions, speak on the phone, etc.
- Requires ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
