Job Description:

Salary: $47,000 - $50,000 per year; DOE

Access ASU is dedicated to increasing access to higher education and preparing Arizona students for success through family engagement, strategic K-12 education, and community partnerships. Access ASU’s programs and initiatives are designed to ensure all Arizona students graduate high school ready to thrive in college and the 21st-century workforce.

Access ASU seeks a dynamic individual with experience and interest in outreach. The Coordinator for Access ASU- Outreach Experiences position will support the work in promoting higher education for Arizona communities, students, and parents. This position will develop programming and create and present workshops to encourage post-secondary education for students and families. Under general supervision, the Coordinator will plan, organize, and coordinate activities, functions, and programs following priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, and other specifications. This position will be essential in creating and executing programming to support the recruitment and engagement of high school students to ASU.

This position is front-facing, working closely and collaborating with community partners within their assigned portfolio focused on support student cohort’s (RISE, CCLI, BSS, etc.) to continue to create a college-going culture. The Coordinator will actively move Access ASU initiatives forward, including increasing access to higher education for K-12 students and their families.

Essential Duties:

Summer Programs 

  • Develop and prepare curriculum, agenda, activities, presentations, etc. for residential summer camp experiences, that supports the recruitment and engagement students. (The César E. Chávez Leadership Institute, RISE, Barrett Summer Scholars, Inspire, etc.)

  • Support all summer camp related duties and functions; marketing, communication, registration, applicant review, related policies, etc.  

  • Develop and deliver presentations to groups including students and parents and community stakeholders.

  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and program participant communication.

  • Conduct and assist with the preparation of related program evaluation activities.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of Outreach and K-12 schools, the community, ASU students, faculty, and staff to effectively implement strategies. 
     

Special Events

  • Develop and deliver presentations to groups including students and parents and community stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of Outreach and K-12 schools, the community, ASU students, faculty, and staff to effectively implement strategies. 

  • Conduct and assist with the preparation of related program evaluation activities.

  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups.

  • Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, or conferences with high impact on program and/or participants.

Other 

  • Assist in developing and coordinating outreach strategies to meet the goals of enrolling the full demographic of Arizona students, with a focus on application, admittance, and enrollment to ASU.

  • Lead program and create a curriculum that supports the recruitment and engagement of students.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to groups, including students, parents, and community stakeholders.

  • Establish and track goals for application, admit, and enroll for senior cohort students.

  • Conduct and assist with the preparation of related program evaluation activities.

  • May assist in developing performance indicators, and accountability reports for new programs based on data.

  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and program participant communication.

  • Review research data and other literature and make interpretations for application to related programs, projects, or initiatives.

  • Participate in developing action plans to direct and guide Outreach strategies and activities.

  • Resolve issues relating to program development and implementation through verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and data analysis to drive solutions forward.

  • Represent Access ASU department and serve on various department and university committees.

  • Ability to multitask, meet coinciding deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Other duties may be assigned to support department goals and initiatives.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience presenting to large groups, including community stakeholders, students, and parents.

  • Experience working in higher education.

  • Evidence of being able to speak, write and read in Spanish/English preferred.

  • Experience researching best practices to support the institution's recruitment and enrollment efforts of high school students. 

  • Experience working and advising K-12 students in student engagement efforts.

  • Experience developing and fostering relationships with community partners to move goals forward.

  • Experience working with under-resourced communities. 

  • Experience with ASU policies and procedures.

  • Highly professional, organized, and able to take initiative.
     

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work

  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds

  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions
     

Regular Schedule: In-person, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday; however, every team member must count on working during evenings and weekends as needed. Work location is primarily at the Memorial Union building at the ASU Tempe Campus; however, the incumbent must travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses.

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success. EOSS provides a broad range of services and support to students and prospective students ranging from outreach efforts with K-12 schools, orientation programs for new freshman, bridge programs to assist the transition to a university environment, and a wide variety of services, programs and activities for enrolled students. EOSS has direct responsibility for multiple departments across four campuses, some of which include the Dean of Students, University Housing, Health Services, Counseling Services, Disability Resources, the Memorial Union, TRIO programs, Sun Devil Fitness, Student Government, Student Media, Career Services, Access ASU and others.
