How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

As part of Value Engineering team, you will work closely with customers and internal sales teams to visualize the potential and realized value delivered by Cognite solutions. By leveraging Cognite’s proprietary Value Framework and industry-specific value models, you will develop optimized value propositions tailored to customer usage, supporting executive alignment and the closing of large-scale contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-faceted Value Estimation & Executive Engagement: Drive precise value forecasting and baseline construction by combining benchmarks, financial data from public filings/IR materials, and value drivers identified through discovery interviews.
• Develop strategies to define and visualize value across multiple levels, from potential value estimation through to realized value measurement, based on the customer journey and usage.
• Industry-Specific Value Proposition & Strategic Planning: Identify value-creation scenarios that address unique customer business challenges based on industry characteristics and key management indicators.
• Translate frontline operational pain points and KPIs into financial impacts prioritized by C-suite stakeholders, creating a compelling and persuasive narrative.
• Quality Assurance for Proposals (Value Desk): Act as a strategic partner by reviewing business cases for key deals and ensuring the quality of value propositions.
• Support increased win rates by clearly defining solutions to business challenges using the “Command of the Message” framework.
• Value Realization Tracking & Expansion Support: Collaborate with customers after implementation to measure realized value, share successes, and drive further adoption and continuous customer success.
• Establish metrics to track future value and ensure ongoing visualization of customer achievements.
• Internal Advocacy & Standardization: Establish “Customer Value” as a common internal language and lead efforts to ensure employees can articulate value using standardized methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a Value Engineer or Value Consultant at a software vendor, or experience in management/operations consulting at a top-tier consulting firm.
• Demonstrated ability to quantitatively visualize the value of IT/OT solutions using financial data, interview insights, and appropriate value drivers.
• Strong logical thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to structure public information and discovery insights into actionable solutions.
• Ability to understand global tools and methodologies and optimize them for Japanese business practices and customer characteristics.
• Business-level fluency in Japanese and English.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive team environment and supporting team-wide goals.

Preferred Experience

• 7+ years of experience within, or consulting for, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Power/Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, or Manufacturing industries.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to communicate complex technical value in the language of business to C-suite stakeholders.
• Exceptional storytelling, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to build compelling narratives in the customer’s language.
• Proven ability to deliver results within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguous projects.
• Prior experience working in a Series A, B, or C startup environment.
