Case Worker

At The Beacon, you will be the first point of contact for people seeking safety, stability and support during a vulnerable moment in their lives. You will deliver trauma‑informed, client‑focused support that honours each person’s story and strengths. Your ability to be flexible, adaptable and responsive ensures people feel secure, respected and empowered as they begin their journey toward long‑term stability.
About the role
As a Case Worker, you will provide short‑term crisis case management during the first 21 days of a resident’s stay. You will assess immediate housing, health, mental health, financial and practical needs, tailoring support with to each individual.
You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to coordinate referrals, advocacy and access to housing pathways. The role requires agility, quick thinking and the ability to remain calm and grounded in fast‑paced or crisis situations.
This permanent full‑time position sits within the Emergency Accommodation and Referral Support Service, reporting to the Team Leader: Front of House. Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 5.
How you will make an impact
Provide a safe, calm and welcoming first point of contact for residents
Deliver trauma‑informed, client‑centred and culturally safe support
Assess immediate housing, health, mental health, financial and practical needs
Tailor individual case plans to support client goals
Strengthen community connection through referrals and housing pathway access
Identify and address barriers to income supports and payments
Respond promptly to crisis situations with appropriate strategies
Maintain accurate and confidential case notes, assessments and outcome data
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and collaborative team environment
What you will bring
Relevant qualifications in Social Welfare or Community Services
Experience delivering client‑focused, trauma‑informed support
Ability to remain flexible, adaptable and calm in changing situations
Strong communication skills using clear, plain English
Capacity to build respectful relationships with clients and partners
Understanding of homelessness, its causes and impacts
Experience in welfare or human services
Desirable: A current driver’s licence to support clients with urgent appointments
A current First Aid Certificate
