Amentum is currently seeking for a Transportation Heavy Equipment Operator to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the heavy equipment operator operates heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, motor graders, heavy loaders, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors. The heavy equipment is used to load, excavate, and move stores, equipment, or other materials. The operator must be able to read and interpret load charts and equipment manuals. The operator may grease, adjust, and make emergency repairs to equipment. The Operator may perform duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee's current rate.
DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates a variety of material-moving equipment daily according to schedule and instructions from the supervisor, which include choosing and setting up the right crane, lift or hoist to complete each task safely and efficiently.
- Inspects machines and equipment daily, performs routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiates additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary.
- Completes and submits the "Operator's Daily Check List" to the supervisor.
- Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site.
- Maintains visual and / or radio contact with riggers according to best practices and site safety regulations and responds to questions and instructions clearly and quickly.
- Provides additional support to other crane operators as necessary, including working overtime to complete tasks or operating several types of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Training for Crane Operators as required by NAVFAC P-307.
- Certificate/License/Registration:
- Certified (or qualified) Crane Operator in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.1427(b) or (c).
- NCCCO Certified Crane Operator and Cat 1 Navy Crane License
- Rigger Certification
- Class A Commercial Driver License
- Forklift Operator License
- Aerial Work Platform Operator License
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
