POSITION SUMMARY
The Technologist provides technical support to Research and Development staff. This position may help to develop methods and procedures. Technologist are responsible for preparing formulations and conducting testing under the direction of leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
Design, Develop and Validate - (90%)
- Perform project work and physical testing on experimental or standard products.
- May provide suggestions for improved performance tests and methods.
- Implement special technical projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Record and report test results in an approved manner.
- Maintain absolute security over batching and formula sheets at night, weekends or when not in use. Ensure that only authorized personnel have access to formulas.
- Maintain clean and properly operating testing equipment.
- Maintain inventory of R&D laboratory supplies.
- Assist with purchasing of laboratory supplies or services.
- Knowledgeable with hazards and safety procedures of chemicals used in R&D lab environment.
Data Analysis and Documentation (10%)
- Responsible for documenting all work via approved methods and sharing developments via occasional technical presentations.
- Summarize ongoing work and findings to colleagues during department meetings.
- Document work continuously according to standard practice.
- Summarize all project work in a formal end report.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree or Completion of some college level coursework is preferred.
- 6+ years in a laboratory environment or 4+ years of experience in a construction material, building products or related industry.
- Work exposure to QC, Lab, and Production.
Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented and have strong analytical ability.
- Team Cooperation - maintain positive, cooperative, professional attitude with all LATICRETE employees and all customers.
- Must be able to participate in multifunctional meetings without supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to write test procedures.
- Must be able to conduct safety training within R&D.
- Must be a self-starter and ability to multi-task.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Physical Requirements:
- Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds.
- Standing: Must be able to stand at least 50% of the day.
- Sitting: Must be able to sit at least 50% of the day.
Travel:
- May require domestic travel as needed <10%
