Position Summary:

The Quality Control Team Lead is responsible for leading and assisting with quality inspections and package testing of in-process materials and finished products. This includes accurately completing all required documentation and ensuring compliance with applicable FDA, state, OSHA, AATB, ISO, and company requirements.

This individual works closely with Quality Control personnel, production teams, and other departments to ensure products are inspected accurately and meet applicable specifications, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Team Lead serves as a first-line resource for inspectors and escalates quality-related issues to the Quality Control Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs inspections of implant and instrument production assemblies and sub-assemblies for conformance to specifications.

  • Leads and assists Quality Control Inspectors in completing inspection activities and meeting production requirements.

  • Follows verbal and/or written instructions, including blueprints, production travelers, work instructions, process specifications, and sketches, when completing inspection tasks.

  • Verifies that inspection equipment, machinery, and tools are within calibration and used in accordance with company procedures.

  • Notifies operators when a non-conformance is identified.

  • Brings quality-related problems, non-conformances, and inspection issues to the attention of the Quality Control Supervisor.

  • Assists inspectors with questions regarding inspection methods, documentation, drawings, and applicable procedures.

  • Works efficiently to achieve targeted goals established by the production schedule while maintaining quality requirements.

  • Learns and applies Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and appropriate inspection techniques.

  • Supports training and development of Quality Control personnel as directed by the Quality Control Supervisor.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to maintain efficiency throughout the department and company.

  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing required introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance requirements applicable to the role.

  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in interactions with employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Quality Control inspection experience; five (5) years preferred.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Strong clerical and math skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for medical devices, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with automated inspection systems.

  • Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and ISO standards preferred.

  • Ability to use standard measuring and inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, profilometers, ring gages, plug gages, thread gages, go/no-go gages, dial indicators, surface plates, gage blocks, and torque wrenches.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and follow-up skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide guidance to other Quality Control personnel.

  • Self-motivated with a willingness to continually increase technical knowledge and skills.

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Required to possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
