WHY BOX NEEDS YOU 

Box is looking for a Software Engineer with operational skillset to join our evolving Cloud Operations and support an industry-leading platform. In this role, you will be at the heart of that transformation: identifying issues and driving them to swift resolution, while leveraging your software engineering expertise to design and build the tools, automation, and processes that define the next generation of cloud operations. You will shape how we improve manageability, observability, and resiliency of our most critical services, and drive down MTTx so that when incidents happen, we respond faster and smarter than ever before.

 WHAT YOU'LL DO 

  • You’ll be part of the core operations team focused on leveraging AiOps in the incident management process
  • Get to work across organizational boundaries - collaborating with IT Operations, Corporate Security, Public Cloud, and Engineering teams — to ensure high availability of all Box services.
  • Utilize both your technical and communication skills to lead cross-functional teams through rapid incident resolutions
  • Model solid engineering practices around architectural design, testability, scalability and maintainability and contribute effectively to technical discussions across the team.
  • Build tools and processes to improve proactive monitoring and alerting, incident response, reducing toil, enhancing documentation, increasing observability coverage, and addressing technical debt as part of regular work.

WHO YOU ARE 

  • You have 2+ years of professional software development experience in an object-oriented or functional programming language, such as Python, Java, Javascript, etc.
  • You have experience with large-scale production operations or reliability engineering practice
  • You have experience with working with Kubernetes and Public Cloud (preferred GCP, AWS)
  • You are confident and comfortable communicating to a broad audience
  • You have a rock solid command presence and are calm and collected in stressful situations, such as a major service outage
  • You are passionate about solving hard technical problems; you are a life-long learner who seeks out knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent technical discipline, or similar work experience

Preferred Skills 

  • Solid understanding of Networking, DNS and OS/Systems
  • Flexibility to work shift model
